I cant stand any modern rock groups, especially those on mainstream radio stations. chevelle, nickelback, three doors down, puddle of mudd, etc etc....... ugh.

I saw them in concert when they opened for.....damn, I forgot who they opened for. I had no idea who they were....this was like 6 years ago, I don't think they were well known yet. They played in a large club and they were pretty decent as a live act, but I never really liked their stuff enough to get into it beyond that one time. They rocked out that night though. I have heard their stuff on radio recently and didn't like it at all.

I wouldn't call Nickelback rock. But, I like all of the other bands you listed. It seems like you are kind of a hater because of your, "especially those on mainstream..." comment.

    Anyways, Chevelle kicks ass.

Some experts say listening to certain types of music makes people want to kill other people. Like when I listen to NickelBack, it makes me want to KILL NICKELBACK!"

I disagree....for the fact that I have never heard Chevelle being played on a "hits" radio station. Nickelback, Three Doors Down, etc. have all been played on those stations, yes. But the only stations I have ever heard Chevelle be played on are actual rock stations, so I wouldn't consider them some mainstream group. IMHO :sunglasse

thats the kind of stations I used to listen to. corporate run radiostations, with set programming. those had a regular rotation of nickelback, creed, puddle of mudd, aerosmith, metallica and chevelle.....

I dont like the new mainstream bands either. But I've got to say, Chevelle has made it's way into my heart, and music collection. I have all three of their cd's they have come out with over the past few years and they are all great. I couldn't wait to get "This type of thinking could do us in" - and I absolutely love it.
I have a very open mind about music. I'll try anything once, but I would deffinitely have to say that chevelle has done a damn good job with their music and I hope they keep it up and continue to come out with more great tunes.

Chevelle is pretty good, although their resemblence to other songs destroyed my respect for them. I think if your going to make music, make something original.

Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive (Around the Fur: released 1997)

sounds A LOT like Chevelle's "Send the Pain Below" (released 2002)

Listen to them. Another is Chevelle's "The Red" which sounded almost exactly like an Orlando, FL local bands song titled "Walk the Plank" which was being played before this CD was even released.

I'm completely open to any comments on this, or if anyone else has noticed these or others.

I used to think that Chevelle was just another band trying to sound like Tool. I don't think that anymore. I like them. They don't blow me away, but I respect what they do. They definitely don't belong in the same sentence as Three Doors Down, Puddle of Mud, and Nickleback.
