Jane just jumped over my prawn with her horse. She is just checking my king, but she really wants to be my mate.

A battleship sunk by a submarine on a chess board. Interesting!

 

My first introduction to chess was back in the 1980s while watching a series of World Championship Matches between Garry Kasparov and Anatoly Karpov on PBS Boston WGBH.


I was glued to my seat while the commentators were trying to explain to the lay audience each of the opponents strategy. I was never more than an average player because I discovered other interests, but I still wonder what would have become of that little kid if I had directed my full attention to Chess rather than track and field, football, and basketball.


btw If anyone is looking for an excellent movie I highly recommend Searching For Bobby Fischer (1993)

 

Yes! I must have watched that 1993ish and I remember it was good and I've been trying to find a copy for a couple years now but the local DVD place doesn't have it.

 

yup. that's just about what i was thinking of.
