It's unbelievable how many patterns there are of these online! More chemo caps I think than regular caps.... although I suppose you can wear it even if you aren't going through chemo and have a full head of hair... But anyway, this was kind of inspired by this hat collection charity thingy that I'm currently doing.... I wanted to share a few links with you guys in case you're bored, if you're knitters and have the extra yarn, to knit up one or two of these chemo caps and you can either send them to me, I'll make sure they'll go to the cancer center in my town, otherwise they can also be donated locally to wherever you are... Hospitals can often tell you where a cancer research collection is, they often take in hats and hair donations for wigs and such.... Just in case anyone wants to do a bit of random acts of kindness I'm sure there'd be a few folks appreciative of it! I actually knit a chemo cap for my mom while she was going through chemo for breast cancer, and she adored it! Here are some link ideas: http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/patterns.htm (has lots of hats) http://knitting.about.com/library/blchemocap2.htm http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt10.htm is the pattern I knit for my mom http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/kff-chemoCap.html
how's your mom doing now? ps, chemo hats are a lot more comfy than most wigs, i've heard pple say that wigs can be itchy and uncomfortable
My mom's perfectly healthy and cancer free, so she's doing well. Wigs can get a bit itchy... my mom often opted to wearing a headscarf, she wore the wig to work only.
