There was a list last year or the year before, listing all the large corporations that basically PAY NO TAXES. I guess Leona Helmsley had it right---"only the little people pay taxes," Apple was mentioned on PBS as having billions stashed overseas, and I seem to recall Tim Cook telling congress--(paraphrase) "we pay all our tax burden to the penny- We wouldn't use tax havens." There are many others dodging their fair share and the politicians know about this, some participate in tax havens and to top it off---the Us has a huge national debt, the infratructure needs billions in repairs, those in Texas and Florida still need help and the Puerto Ricans REALLY need help. This is not the the time to cut taxes when so many need help and so much needs done here. Maybe it's time to inform the government that the suckers are tired of paying taxes when so many that ARE ABLE TO---pay none. The 1% is said to HALF the worlds riches already.
I can see the new tax form now---2 lines= Line 1. How much did you make? Line 2=send it in.

I am with you on this deal, Scratcho. There are all sorts of crooked bizilionaires parking their money in secret off shore banks and companies to avoid taxes. Obama tried to force them to disclose these things. The Swiss first agreed to do it , then re-nigged. And this week people started dying on the sidewalks because of the cold. A 61 year old man died in Missoula because of the cold, and because he had no place to sleep.

One copy has to go to the government and the second copy has to go to the shadow government. But don't worry Scratch; you can come and take political refuge in our commune!

They can duck taxes by stashing the money away on some tiny island. They do not live on that tiny island though. They live in London, New York/NJ, California, Cape Cod or Miami

They cannot hide the real estate that they own.

Tax the Real Estate, eliminate deductions for mortgage interest and real estate taxes. The thresholds in The House bill are too high.

im not going to read the whole paradice story but i think its safe to just assume that its rich people...making tons of money internationally ...and storing it down there because why the fuck would or should it be taxed with a cut going to US government?....or whatever government of wherever they live.....

pay the tax in whatever country the profits were made...if they even have taxes...and store it in a neutral zone...makes perfect sense

  11. For me the worst thing is that these companies/individuals will quite happily plead innocence because apparently tax avoidance is a whole different kettle of fish from tax evasiĆ³n! Yeah?Tell that to all of us regular suckers who have no say in the matter!

I think the point is that doing this causes an unfair tax burden on the middle class

Just seems greedy to me...Bernie Sanders has been doing a thing on his Facebook where he shares videos of billionaires who are actually in favor of higher taxes for the rich

And as one of these billionaires pointed out, once you make a certain amount of money the rest just becomes numbers on a page. It doesn't really mean anything because you already have more money than you could ever spend

So what is even the point of hiding money in tax havens..not like a multi billionaire is going to miss it either way

I think one of Clinton's biggest policies she was trying to forward was taxation of corporations that move their headquarters to another country to avoid taxation, or other reasons for that matter. Whatever the reason may be, they should pay a tax so that they don't want to do that!

As messed up as it sounds it could prevent capital flight.

I think that buying American is great and if I had the money I would probably do stuff like that. But, at some point, and you have to be honest with yourself here, it becomes impractical! That's where there is a conflict, in my eyes and even in my previous statement that they should have to stay in America or pay. The problem becomes the cost. We need a high minimum wage. But then companies have to charge more to pay their laborers. So therefore imports are cheaper than buying American! So which is it? lol

The aristocrats and bourgeoisie were in constant conflict with the working class in France. Marx pointed it out in Das Capital. At the climax of the French revolution, the common people had enough of the privileged classes and swarmed the palaces of the rich. Marie Antoinette and Louis The 14th got their just deserts from the working people who had to make do on starvation wages year after year. Today the average CEO makes 800,000 times more money than the factory worker or hamburger flipper. Some of the Republican rich own hundreds of thousands of acers of land in huge ranches, while the poor homeless freeze to death on the sidewalks. The poor people of Maine voted to expand Medicaid coverage in their state so more people could get health services. The Republican governor vetoed it, against the wish of the voters. At some point, we need to convince the average voter to vote in the best interest of the people, and vote the Repukes out!
