Alright guys.. physics time.. how come the radial acceleration for circular motion is -v^2/r rather than v^2/r?

Aren't you posting in the wrong thread? :p

No, I think what it is is that the radial acceleration is always negative since it points inward.
Radial acceleration is what makes an object move in a circle and any force pointing in to a circle is "negative".. at least I hope that's what the explanation is. :biker:

recent decisions by my government to pull out of kyoto and to ban face veils at citizenship ceremonies are so far from my personal values that i'm having a really hard time recognizing my own country anymore.

it doesn't matter why they want to wear it. as long as they aren't being force, it is their right to dress the way they like. we wouldn't make a christian take a cross from around their neck, why make a muslim woman remove her veil?

It likely has at least as much to do with social expectation as it does with the individual women's beliefs. I mean I don't know anything about this particular situation, but if that society (which probably privileges males) believes that the wearing a veil is a valid and desirable feminine quality, women are going to act in accordance with that, generally, just like we all conform to gender expectation--without concerted effort to do otherwise, that is.

veils were used in marriage to hide the face of the to be wife.. because marriage was never picked by the husband and wife.. but rather by the families to better themselves through the financial success of the other family.. so more often than not.. the bride was not always desirable to the husband.. so a veil was used to mask the face so he could not see what he was marrying before hand.. nor could she.. that's why the bride is walked down the isle.. because the veil would blind her as well
