i had a few sleds when I was a kid. runner type and plastic board. depends on the area. runner sled would kick ass on ice alley,, but wasnt shit in the park. best sled I ever had was a swimming pool bed under inflated.

    Hey peeps! :D

SC is in the midst of snowmageddon. Lots of people even older than me (IMAGINE!) have said they've never seen a winter and snow like this.

I was scheduled to go in to work this morning at 8am. I set my alarm clock for 6:30am, looked out the window and knew that there was No Way I was driving! I was told last night at work to call in first just to see if McD's was even open. When I called around 7am the top manager answered and told me "It's just SLUSHY out there on the roads...its nothing!"

I told her "I think it looks like something down here!"

She launches into how far she drives and bla bla bla. I told her I'd call her back...knowing when I did it would be to confirm I wasn't driving in this. Not only was the ground covered with LOTS of snow (to me it was lots), but underneath was ice AND it was even snowing with sleet THEN.

Nothing but slush on the streets my ass.

ALL morning, and during the 30 minutes or so I waited to call work back, the tv was constantly saying for people to stay home. Don't drive unless its an emergency, and then be very, very careful.

When I called back I didn't bother to point out to her (stupid) ass that EVERYBODY on tv from DOT (Dept of Transportation) to news reporters that were in the middle of this weather was advising people to STAY HOME! I simply told her I was scared to death to drive in this and just couldn't do it.

Unhappily, she told me "just stay home then". lol

Even our governor (whom I consider to be an idiot) has declared a State of Emergency, and she rarely does anything that makes good common sense.

    Ok, that's my news. :)

I usually watch the Olympics but I haven't watched a single thing this year.

I remember watching them on the luge YEARS ago. :D Even watching it scares the crap out of me. I cannot imagine the mentality and adrenelin that would go with riding? that thing.

Is one considered to ride the luge?

No they are almost always just meant to be funny. Thats not a rule though.
Funny enough you made me think of another one just a second ago. Said. "Bosses be like, no the roads are clear". And the picture shows people shoveling like 3 feet of snow.
But if i didnt feel safe driving and my boss insisted it was clear i would say ok then pick me up and drive me home after my shift is over.

LOL! She asked where I lived and I told her the name of the road...that was when she said call back, and then later it was "just stay home then". :2thumbsup:

Several years back there was a little snow/ice storm and I did tell my then employer what you suggested. :D She arranged for her son-in-law to come and pick up and take home the whole 2nd shift, which was just 3 people...but still.

The next time I'm scheduled to go in is Friday at 5pm...and I will make that suggestion if I don't think the roads (or my dang drive) are ready for me to drive.

Some things you can't help, there will always be circumstances beyond our control. Driving in snow and ice is one of the Very Few things I can -and will- damn well control.

It would be different if I lived somewhere else; but living in SC I know I can't drive in this kind of weather...and I won't.
