I use American Netflix, not sure if it is on the Canadian one or not.

And the book is 500+ pages and at times a really dry read, so I figured that the movie was a bit more accessible to people :p

Netflix is only £5.99 a month here.I was a member but cancelled my subscription because I felt I'd seen all the films they had that I wanted to see.I like biopics about artists, writers, musicians and intellectuals.

A friend gave me some light homegrown yesterday.Really nice smoke and no paranoia, which I sometimes get with the heavy stuff.Never say never,as they say...

Yeah I go through phases. It seems that they've recently added a bunch of stuff so we're been watching movies on there again. I usually cancel it when the weather gets warmer and sign up again when winter begins.

:coffee: Was watching the hawk in the backyard. He was sitting in the sun trying to get warm. Minus 9 degrees F.... I doubt it was working out very well.

Southern England is having the worst rain since records began,it seems.Lots of flooding in the countryside, people flooded out of their homes.Very miserable. Also 100 mph winds. We are largely protected from the flood here in London, but the Thames has burst its banks further up inland.Unless we sort something out,Inner London could be susceptible to flooding within 20/30 years,if these weather trends continue.Global warming...What'd you think?

is it bad if i did the lions share of the work on my boy's valentines mailbox? he did help, and it was his idea. and the main thing he wanted was for it to be keepable (he had to toss the beat-up box from last year.) this year its encased in duct tape. its a space diorama, star wars. we cut out fighters from the themed cereal boxes (cinnamon toast crunch, came with a character pen)

i did not get enough sleep last night, but i am choosing not to nap. i will do one drying rack full of dishes and clear half of the table before i catch my shows. might do more if im on a roll. im accountable to you guys now.

We have been seeing this on our news too Fairlight.

They are blaming a lot of our freaky weather on the fact that the north pole is melting. I am not a scientific person but this morning on the news some science guy was talking about the melting at the pole causing the polar vortex to go out of whack. All I know is that this is one of the worst winters I have lived through and I have lived places farther north than I am now.

took me about 30 minutes to do round 1 of dishes. i have to do another round before ill have enough space to do the table.

the climate is changing. it often does. but regardless of the cause, we are sensitive creatures. resilient and creative too. but we are already struggling with the effects of climate change. i think back to the weather 10-15 years ago (gah, im getting old) and theres a stark difference. we used to have afternoon thunderstorms like clockwork in the summer. 2 years ago there was A storm that unleashed the fury of every mised storm of the last several years. or it seemed like it. the rain sheeted, the sky was continuously lit by the lightning, so that any time it did pause you were left blind in the dark.

our infrastructure is also not equipped to deal with the change. whoops, not enough oil. whoops, the grid failed, cant pump your water. whoops, containment tanks for toxic chemicals not designed for extreme temperatures, sprung a leak, and your water is now bad. oh, and your grocery store barely has enough to carry them over to the next truck day, so when the trucks stop, dont expect much of nothin. people can go without showering, they can (maybe) relearn how to do things by hand, the old fashioned way. but there is going to be a severe problem with food. all it takes is a hiccup in the system today, when the food really stops and people dont have any idea what they can eat, then there will be riots and violence. its like watching a trainwreck in slow motion, you can see it coming, you know the sound before it reaches you, but theres not a damn thing you can do about it.

the south has had snow before, sure, but its hard to argue with the increased frequency of anomalies.

i like the Fragile Earth forum on AboveTopSecret and the Wundermap http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/?lat=38.54817&lon=-95.80078&zoom=4 for keeping an eye on things.
