lynn- if its musty down there sprinkle baking soda, or leave it in dishes scattered around. if its mildewy you probably need to scrub down the walls with bleach (not a fun job, but sometimes necessary) your fabric/ materials should go in clear lidded plastic tubs. keeps critters and smell at bay.
i have a lot of my fabric in blue rubbermaid tubs, cant see into them, but i usually have to pull everything out to get an idea anyway.

we have a crawlspace, no basement. i might dig out a rootcellar or something, havent decided, i contacted a company, they said it would be about 40,000 to dig out the basement. thanks, but id rather go without.

fixed the zipper on my coat by salvaging a zipper slide from an old coat! i'm very happy because i don't have the money to spend on a new one.

I often wondered why grow rooms aren't lined with mirrors....you would think a thousand watts in the mirror is still a thousand watts.....

but i'm guessing no?.....is there a squirrel around that can scientifically explain this on a gr 10 level?

mirrors will make hot spots, absorb the spectrum good for growing and reflect those spectrum that damage the plants.
