you would probably have an easier time if you incorporate a rocket stove. you can make them yourself, and they take minimal wood. they are also best for serious heat under one spot, though i have seen some that diffused it around a stone. you can also buy them, stovetec has done a very nice job. i intend to purchase one for long-term preps, but ive set aside a few cans for making one for banging around and camping and a car-stove.

this is a review for a stove-tec model, but theres lots of instructions on youtube and online for making your own. most people like vermiculite mixed into the filler/ insulation

.......I removed it from the heat...junior and I were sipping it it test.....its brownish....tastes sweet and very smoky.....tomorrow before I put it back I will strain it through cheesecloth or something cotton

edit....it tastes way way sweeter at this stage than I amticipated.....it tastes like it would be good for a sore throat

 

sounds delicious. i hadnt even considered the effect of the smoke on the flavor. i might have to attempt it out here anyway.

FFS i hate paper. i have a giant laundry tub full of old bills and papers and school worksheets and fliers and ugh. i would rather fold laundry, and thats saying something.

yeah like i should talk, i have a garbage bag full of similar papers. its just that the local ordinance says no yard fires before 4pm and i do all of my busy work in the morning.

Cold here too. About 18f degrees right now and staying around freezing in the afternoon.

 

yesterday there was 80 deer in a single field across from the house...couldn't get them all in one picture.....starting to worriy a little about my garden this year....as of yet they stay away from the house but who knows come summer?

The deer come right up to the house here... No garden this year.
