Hit one of my favorite dumpsters today. Got a pair of large craftsman pliers and a come-along with extra straps.

Pliers are the slip-joint type with ratchet teeth along the groove, instead of individual slots for the fulcrum. I assume someone thought it was busted and threw it out, or got frustrated with the design (admittedly, they can suck in some situations - but outperform in others). Come-along is missing the handle sleeve, so it isn't quite as comfortable - but shit, all it needs is a piece of hose or something stuck over it and it'll be good as new.

Good shit. I couldn't believe either of them, I was sure there would be more wrong.

First mow of the season is the worst, so close to land dirt dust can be crazy.

Oh, I've only seen channellock brand with the type you have to open wide and slip to the next slot.

Yeah, I see how someone could have lost their patience with them and chucked 'em, but as long as you use them in the right situations and NOT in the wrong ones (like any tool), they can be quite convenient. They're good for repetitive but slightly different things where you would have to repeatedly reset normal pliers, or things that you need to crush down using several different jaw positions, that don't require a huge amount of pushing or pulling. I have a pair of channellocks (or, what I think of as channellocks, as described above) that's about the same size, so I'm not stuck with only these, they just increase my options.

I mean, for free, I would have been happy to find pre-broken chinese crap, so nearly new american made tools sitting right on top of a pile of trash (no digging even required) is a pretty good deal. I know it's not a huge or super valuable find, but I'm still stoked about them, it's like walking along and finding a $20 bill.

That is amazing, bikes are awesome.

They also scare the living shit out of me - I don't expect I'll ever ride one. I scare myself enough just having fun at half that speed in my car.

At least a car has a crumple zone forward of your spine...

I'm getting my first real bike this year, I'm hoping July. It wont be anything the power of these have. It will be a lot of fun and i'm very excited. It will be a street bike.

I have all my protective gear. Jacket fully padded, pants 60% leather, helmet, boots and gloves. Everything ready for the bike.

I need a 2nd vehicle. Wanted a bike my whole life. So here we go.

Roor that track takes most riders 3 years to learn before they can go perfectly.

Race takes place in late May and Early june... pretty sure. There are plenty of places to view right next to road.

    It's on my bucket list.

I know I should learn, it's just one of those things you should know.

Riding a motorcycle and driving a large truck (unsynchronized, with dual sticks or any other setup out there, and air brakes) are two skills that I'd really like to acquire, but I don't know anyone who does either who would be willing (or trustworthy) to teach me, and I'm nervous about both, considering how bad they can go (respectively, I could lose my life, or a very expensive gearbox).

The truck is a more immediate goal, even though it's harder to find someone stupid enough to let me drive their rig. I like big things that go, and it's not a danger to my personal health or safety.
