took my work gloves to the bus stop, and stayed outside for 30-40 minutes pulling weeds when i got back. made quite a heap. the boy will help me with more woodchips later. might even get the weed fabric pulled out and placed in a handful of areas that need it (up against the house, where it will be covered with gravel, and along the neighbor side, as a buffer against the fence, once we get that put in. theres gravel there that will make it difficult to plant in anyway)

i cant wait to get it looking good and be able to share pictures. there are some patches of clover i want to move as well. and a maple that needs to be dug out. its trying to grow, but it was planted wrong so its basically a maple bush. its in the area where i would put a nice cherry tree. meh, we will see whaat happens with that. woodchips to the weeded areas are the task for today, and pulling weeds, and digging up the difficult grass. making progress anyway. and then i can move the hens and chicks, and the yarrow, and the periwinkle from the back. and a neighbor has some russian sage growing out into the sidewalk zone, so i might ask if i can "weed" that for them and replant it, the bees love the stuff.

Flower bed on the other side of the sidewalk from the patio garden has been dug out completely, gutter drain installed, 1 side filled and planted with grass seed, the other side filled with clean soil and a Girl Holly planted. There's still room for a few perennials in there. There are 3 other Holly in the patio area, all in all two boys and two girls. One of those boys will be espaliered on the house wall. Hoping to keep the deer off those Holly.

I still need to build a brick planter for 3 cascading Junipers up against the house, place 3 more standing stones, a few more flagstones, and the patio garden will be done. (except for the yard or so of mulch I need to make and spread.)

Then I get to do the back garden... which will be about 3 times the size as the front. This won't be finished this year, but I need to get it laid out and hope to get some major plants in.

im falling apart more and more, day by day. im weak like a kitten. the kiddo is finally stepping up. i have to keep a close eye on him, and go out and struggle every now and then, but he also likes the current jobs. its always an easier job when you can stand back and see immediate progress. walkways and clumps of grass removal lend themselves to that well. moreso than weed pulling. but i rather like weedpulling, i just cant do it right now.

I spoke to a woman in the store the other night who was going to have hot dogs with sauerkraut on them AND dip them in mashed potatoes.

Says she eats them that way all the time, like it is a thing.
