im in the process of killing 2 honeysuckle bushes. i prefer the vining type, the bush type makes inedible berries, and birds eat them, spreading the seeds all over. so they can be invasive if not managed. if im going to plant something invasive it will be well thought out first. aspen, or bamboo (though i dont think i could grow that successfully here) mint as long as its contained.

those are gnarly, but ive heard the honey locust pods can be tasty.

I remember when i was a kid my sister her friend and i got a bowl and tried to fill it up by squeezing out the honey. It didnt take too many before we gave up.

pulled weeds and grass for about 45 minutes, filled a kitchen trash bag. ground is soft, so most is coming up easily, and im pulling up grass patches too. charging the weedwhacker battery. im exhausted already, and my back is screaming. so i came in and had some breakfast, will have a smidge more coffee. glare at the dishes. hubby watched netflix and snuggled puppies on the couch most of the night, so i have no idea when hes going to wake up and feel like doing anything. it will probably still be too wet to mow out back anyway.

im hoping to use some of the bigger logs that i have laying around to edge a garden bed on the side yard. its "front" enough to be seen, and hopefully it will look like progress and we are making an effort. i really wish i had more energy, or that my mom had gotten the hell out of here sooner. kid does a good job when he applies himself, but he is still learning how to "get into" a job. i dont mind weeding, its easy and nearly mindless. but the positions im trying to balance in. kneeling cuts off circulation to my feet. cross legged gets me covered in yard stuff, or i need something to sit on, which means getting up and moving that thing when i finish a section. then theres standing up and bending over, which cant last long, and squats which hurt my arches, and risk me toppling over backwards when i pull something out of the ground. im glad im able to do some of the work, but it would be so nice to have more active help. supposed to be 60 today, maybe the kid will cooperate more for me when he gets home from school. hes got a cabbage plant we need to get out there, and we have other seeds to start this week too. so flipping much to do, and here i am trying to grow a person, and a garden. sheesh.

I've been watching a lot of Wonder Years lately thanks to Netflix. I sort of remember the show being in reruns growing up but it's better as an adult. The voice over has some clever lines and I guess it's easier to look back at being that age and laugh when you are older.

Thought I was just about ready to stick my transmission back in, and then it turned out they fucked me, listed the same kit for two engines, I should have a bigger release bearing, no way to fit this one...

Of course, I already have the thing bolted up, covered in locktite, etc - and I doubt they'll just give me the right bearing, it doesn't come as part of the kit, and I'm going to assume warranty doesn't cover "we sold you the wrong shit" situations.

So, I get to pay 35 bucks and wait two more days, I suppose..... we'll see. I don't want to pull it off to return it and all that crap, and spend like a week waiting on a kit from someone else.

I probably SHOULD pull it off - didn't do the rear seal, even though I washed it thougherally in brake cleaner (eats rubber, don't it?), as I couldn't pop the retainer off the block for whatever reason.

i really need to remember to take "before" pictures when i do a lot of work outside. ive been busting my butt all day. im quite pleased with my progress, but my back is killin me. hurts more to pull weeds than it does to move logs. hubby went to get stuff so we can make burgers. nom nom. this time im cutting the onions though, his knife skills leave much to be desired when it comes to burgers, lol. big old chunks, dont stick when you cook them. yummy though. looking forward to dinner.

I was doing some yard work when the local news stopped by to give me an interview about the construction.. I had a nice rant for him. wont be on tv but probably part of some text segment .. they was more interested in my dog, since Julie didnt like them coming onto the driveway.
