Maybe my horse riding injury played a part because I really do reflect on that day. A lot. And I scare myself.

I always remember going so fast, so high.. and I really could have hurt myself a lot worse.

Every time I think about it I shake, shiver and get very anxious. I can't stay still and I have to get up shake it off and try and think of something else quickly.

thats just risk management in action. if you twist your ankle, makes it harder to work, harder to pay yo bills. worth the risk of jumping and screwing around?

hubby doesnt do such a great job at it. once he tried to leap over a chain link fence, and tore his pants. bad. like, hanging off of him, ripped all the way up the back. and they were a pair that actually fit him, were really comfortable, and we couldnt afford to replace. risk management saves money, and the seat of your pants.

I've just got to tell this...

There was one girl cousin on my father's side that I was close to growing up...she and her family lived in the city, as opposed to me being a country girl. lol I loved going up there on the occasional weekend.

Anyway, we went our separate ways in adulthood, etc etc but we've remained friends and reconnected over the last few years.

Her son (that she had much difficulty in conceiving) is 30 and was recently discovered to have a brain tumor. The neurosurgeon is operating tomorrow to get a biopsy, see if it's bigger or whatever than the scans and x-rays reveal. Perhaps he (the surgeon) will be able to get it all and it won't be malignant.

What a fine and talented (in graphic art) young man he is...so polite, never giving my cuz problems etc.

All the while there are jackasses that seem to live forever spreading their venom and/or evil, with never a single health - mental or physical - problem. Pedophiles that continue to thrive and go on and on...

His father decided when the boy was young that he wanted to 1st - cross dress secretly since he was a preacher and then about the time the boy was 18 or so, the father had a sex change...she/he has always been more concerned about herself/himself than anything else, so they are all dreading her presence. Hell, I'd like to just smack her myself. Because of various things my cousin went through when married to the him, she was diagnosed with PTS...so there's that, that I don't forget.

dang I don't even know how I feel about anything but I want that boy to be alright, that the neurosurgeon find and excise everything and everything be even better for him than before.

im sorry Lynn, that sucks. i too hope that the surgeon can get it all. brain surgeries have come a long way, and many tumors are not malignant, they often cause issues because of the pressures they put on surrounding tissues in a confined space. a friend of mine started to go blind because of a brain tumor. the hospitals he went to for the pain and eye problems wrote him off for years as just being a drug seeker. hes doing much better now, has his eyesight back too. and they (the doctors) let that tumor grow a good long time before actually trying to figure out what was going on and help him.
theres lots of hope these days.

All that talk about getting old made me just have to go and post that above about being young doesn't guarantee longevity...just over look me. :)

I find I quite enjoy getting older, and not fighting it...not trying to be young with this ridiculous make-up that I see other "older" women wear.

I find my body reminds me I'm old before my mind does; but, I'm even happy (enough) with myself physically since I'm able to work like a plow mule for McD's for long periods of time. :D

Getting older is much better than I though it would be. :)

I can draw at high noon
I can draw the sword too
    I can wield the ax
    I can thrust the knife

And if we are hand to hand, I got a pair of steel capped boots and elbows out. :D

I'd do immortality for sure but I like the Highlander approach where you live as long as you got your head. So that's a easy way out if I'm sick of it I'll just destroy my head.

But hell yeah I'd live forever. :)

not me. looking forward to the sweet release of death.
but then, a lot of the women in my family live into their 80's, so ive likely got 50 more years of this crappy mental/emotional/physical pain. yay.

Oh god, my boy has FINALLY destroyed the outdoor lounge. I'm surprised it didn't get destroyed a long time ago. The mattress is still fine, he's just pushed it off and gone to down on the inside foam, slats and what not. Not really angry at him surprisingly. Mostly because I just covered it back up with a wooden ply board I found a couple of weeks ago. Still can be sat and layed on. :)

I shouldn't have cleaned it up. I should have left it. So he'd have nowhere to lay down anymore. That'd teach him a lesson, right?

I wish it would. I wish they'd learn that. "Fuck, I just tore up my bed, this single awesome piece of comfortable furniture mum gave me to lay on".

I wish they'd think like that.

Sadly, I think if I'd have left it, it'd just be snowing foam all over the yard. :D
