I'm more of a car guy. It's funny I know I could crash in a car too but I have airbags and crumple zones. A bike is just too much for me because it's not if you fall but when. But for like 20k you can buy a 1 liter bike new that would be faster then most cars. But who wins when it rains? I do lol.

Everyone says you go down eventually. I just don't think like that. I know my limits and my riding ability.

I want to wake up early Saturday or Sunday take several open highways to certain spots at a lake or park, then go home.

Their are several places here where I would use the bike instead of my 4runner to do things. with a 4 gallon tank @ 60+ MPG it will save me lots of money.

Where I live its a great place to learn cause we have more open roads than anything.

Don't your ego out the bag and you be just fine.

Is a Queen's pardon hard to get? It seems like it would be. I heard she does not have to have a driver's license but can still drive. Who is going to stop her I guess.

man a 1liter bike with a few small mods will beat 95% of all 4 wheel cars. Maybe not in the first 50 yards, but after that, cars don't beat bikes, ever if the engine is mod right.

btw no way am I dropping 20 grand on the first. I'm staying under 10k

Also liter bikes are not faster than a solid 600, and the 600 are much cheaper. With a much less theft rate.

That's true you will never be able to use all the power on the street. A 600 will be almost as quick but easier to handle.

organized crime is pretty crazy for the weed growers right now.

I think 4, major grown operations were broken into all within 2 days. before harvest.

All these grow sites have fences and surveillance, its required by the liquor control board among other things. Problem is none of the grow sites are fully covered, just a high fence.

Wouldn't be hard to set up a watcher while a few jump the fence in masks, break the cameras and have a truck covered out back. The cameras from what me and my house mate know, they don't have the funds to have watch outside. Its all on the inside. Takes crazy money to have both.

Things are going to change. Junkies are fucking things up. My house mate is a legal grower and has great connections. Unless you have loads of money to drop into a full fortress, you gonna get fucked. Things will change, but the first legal growers are takin hard hits.

Thankfully my house mate is on family property watched by hawks..

You WILL go down.... the determinate of how badly you get hurt is how carefully you ride, because you know when you do something dumb one time, that's when it happens. I don't know anyone who rides a bike who hasn't dumped it, even very cautious people with very small put-put type bikes. Even dropping a bike on you at a few miles an hour fucking hurts and cause serious injury, you're having at least a few hundred pounds of awkwardly shaped metal thrown on top of you.

But even aside from that, think of all the shit that's not your fault, that happens when you drive a lot. I've been in a few minor wrecks, always either not my fault or less my fault (well once I backed over a boulder leaving the driveway in the fog - that was my fault) than the other guys. I've never even had a seatbelt bruise, but I would have been seriously injured or killed if I was on a bike. I've had some close calls at high speed where I probably would have died on a bike.

You're something like 35x more likely to die every time you get on a bike, than getting in a car. It's not a matter of just being more careful and being fine, it's a matter of being that much more likely to die... even though you're more careful.

Even aside from dying, I like my legs where they are.

I know someone who died on a bike - not his fault at all, entirely someone else's, was driving normally in easy conditions.... but the lack of fault doesn't make him any less dead.

Do you and what makes you happy, but don't be under any illusions about how dangerous it is, or the tragedies that happen on bikes - they're real home-wreckers.

Again, think of the things you can't avoid in a car - maybe 99.9% of the time vigilance and skill and smarts and defensive driving can save you, but some times there's just no avoiding it - but then you have a car to take the hit for you. And as far as I can know, you drive like me - you're careful, but careful as you haul ass.

Of course, you're totally right, in terms of sheer acceleration and how nimble they are, slow bikes beat fast cars - but I'd rather shit my pants in a bucket seat than straddling the engine.

Ego aside, everyone likes speed, and testing themselves, and shitting bricks. Nobody can resist. And who wants to?

Know what's fucking awesome about cars? Full cages. bucket seats. Harnesses. Neck restraints. Fire suppression systems. Four wheels. And when you recover from a skid the tires grabbing doesn't send you flying to your death.

(I know this rambles - kept realizing I had more)

I remember back in the day...riding on the back of a Harley. Nothing between you and the Other Side but air and opportunity. I did have enough sense to only ride behind someone that wasn't a fool on one; but at the same time I always knew riding a bike is basically dangerous. :)

I have talked and yapped about this (what I'm going to yap about) but I haven't done it here in the Chatical thread.
(Doncha just love that word?! :D )

Every Monday is payday but I didn't get my check until Thursday when I went to work...well, it was late in my shift, but I got it before I went on break and I COULD HAVE taken it out to my car...

BUT HELL NO! I just let it stay in my back pocket, where it fit nicely all the way down in there, folded in half...I didn't even tear open the 3 sides to look at it.

Well, I get home and unlike every other night, I am practically ripping my clothes off so I can wash those stupid ass McD pants. I empty out ALL of my pockets but the back one - the one with the check. :wall:

About 10 minutes into the wash I realized OH NO MY CHECK...I stop the washer, check the pockets...take everything out...nothing. Nothing even in the water...that's because it was most probably already wrapped around the agitator. :bigcry:

I even went (zoomed) back to work...not there...because well, I am really sure in my heart it was (prior to washing) still in those damn pants.

When I went back and completed washing the pants and shirt, I found a LOT of white paper like stuff (I compared it to kleenex but it was heavier) on the pants and some on the shirt.

So, I hope they get me another check cut this coming week...GODALMIGHTY

Ok, I think that is it for this particular rant/vent. ;)

it cant be cashed, so they should be able to have the check reissued without too much trouble. bummer though. hubby never checks his pockets. i have washed so. many. chapsticks. blech.

neighbor of mine from when i was a kid gave himself severe brain damage wrecking his bike. dont know what kind. after the damage he kept sneaking out, disappearing to do something he remembered that he enjoyed... riding. wrecked again. he wasnt the brightest bulb to begin with, a shitty husband and father, abut now he just works on his truck. not supposed to drive it. i dont know if he does.
