take one tire off ..measure the circumference

go to junkyard and find a tire that will fit your rim size...tread pattern doesnt matter just as long as it fits the rim and has the same circumference when inflated



tire shops always try to scare people into buying sets of 4 saying they need to match...and yes they do need to be awful close but that doesnt mean all 4 need replacing

 

Our forest is loaded with black walnut trees. We harvested walnuts the first couple of years we were here. The major nut vendors will buy your walnuts if you have a local place that will hull them for you. Otherwise.. it's almost impossible to get through the two layers of the shell in any sort of bulk amount. They'll pay whatever the going rate is for this year but only after you've removed the outer husk.

You can find out if you have a local company with one of those machines by contacting your local farm extension.

For private use.. put the walnuts on your driveway when they first start to fall and the green husk is turning black. Drive over them for a few weeks. Yep, I said a few weeks. lol

This will eventually crack and peel off the outer layer. Then.. take a concrete block and put the nut on it and smash it with a hammer to get the next layer open. The whole process is a royal pain. No wonder nuts are sooo expensive at the grocery store.

As for the walnut trees themselves.. don't cut them down! Walnut trees are slow growing and the wood is very expensive. They increase the value of your land quite a bit.

 

I have one on my front lawn....a good sized one...had to cut down its twin because it was into the hydro line....but I filled a good sized rubbermade container with walnuts I harvested and it sat filled with water for 2 plus years.......it was a pile of the most disgusting black goo you ever saw.....I was after that goo....I strained and filtered it and now have 4 liters of tick black dye .

my daughter spins and teaches spinning...she dyes her own wool and sells it....she will make some with my dye
