Broony Mama is subject to do anything...I think she has a little dementia. I really have to keep an eye on her or the cats will be in the yard (and gone) or the door isn't shut or locked or the key is in the lock...then I have found her literally on the edge of the yard standing about 1 inch from the road :yikes: with stupid pruners in her left hand clipping something totally unnecessary. goodnightalive

Spaceman are you talking about 2 and 1/2 Men? lol Yeah, Mama can't see very well (hence my dismay at her refusal to quit driving) and her hands weren't in great shape before breaking her wrist. But really she is doing good to be 95 yrs old...

She said just moments ago "Its gonna take a little while to get my hand and wrist back right since I'm not a young chick anymore." [IMG] We both loled at that. :D

Let me just officially say: she may not know it (yet); but Mama's driving career is over.

My gpa years ago was driving, and during the drive he forgot where he was in the middle of it... He had to call someone to give directions to meet someone to get him back home.

That was the start of things..

Very good. You can get her doctor and the dmv to fix that for good.

Well its good that was at beginning and even though he forgot how to get where he was going (or forgot where he was going) its good he still had it together good enough to know to call someone and how to call someone!

Without any other "problem" but being in the 10th decade of her life, Mama just can't get the hang of any kind of cell phone, so that was something that always tore my nerves up - knowing she didn't have a phone on her in case of problems when driving...she can't even use the mobile land line...she has to use a plug in the wall landline only.

Outside of all that worry about not being able to call- her eyesight, hearing, and reflexes have got to be diminished at her age.

    ^ Truth to God, Aeri!

She is getting around to seeing that, too...I can tell. However, she will NOT openly admit it. Saying she "wasn't a young chick anymore" is about as close as she is going to come to admitting her senses are (much) diminished at her age.

I'm glad I have the option to look after her. She seems to enjoy telling people (at different places - the grocery store, the dr office, where ever) that I am her chauffeur and cook and dishwasher. lol

Just finished mowing. I usually LOVE mowing with my pretenda-tractor riding lawn mower. Today, I hit a turtle and killed it. Dammit. The weeds had grown so tall with all the rain we've had this year that I didn't see him until I'd already killed him. Dammit.. Dammit

Gotta make egg deliveries today so I guess my day will get better. Going to town.. .. ummm yay?

Harvesting the first of the apples tomorrow. Life on the farm. Exciting, huh?

    Ack!

My granddaughters just came over to say "bye". They are going to visit family in Florida for a week.

    It still makes me cry.

    I love them so much.

My flock is down to about 30 birds, Rolling. I think some of the older girls are getting ready to retire. We just gave away 10 roosters who'd gotten big enough to start bothering the hens. Don't think we'll use the incubator again. Too many roosters get hatched. I'll just buy pullets from the hatchery.

We need the larger flock of hens to keep the tick population gone and we trade eggs for all sorts of things. Chickens are the only animals I have ever raised that actually earn their keep... other than the farm dog. He's amazing. Black lab/great Pyrenees mix. Excellent guard dog.

I have 15 hens and a crotchety limping old rooster...half the hens don't lay every day anymore and basically like you said...bug eaters

.....I have a maremma/pyrenese cross that loves to chase the hens back to their yard...now if the hens hear ''go see'' they start running before the dog even comes around the corner

I might do abit of cutting today...not the bad kind :)

Have you considered dog sitting ML? You would make a lot more then taking surveys. There are websites that set you up with people but then you have to have strange animals in the house all the time.

I got a black walnut tree, they are nothing but missiles when I mow the lawn. I wonder if they have any use...I usually get a little more than a five gallon pail worth of them every fall (and a few before fall) maybe someday I will get rid of all the trees I don't like and plant some useful ones in their place.

i have 3 dogs and a cat, i am so not putting up with anyone elses animals. they would freak out, i would freak out, and frankly im always about "this" close to killing one of the dogs i have. cant be responsible for someone elses.

i have done some damage to my right middle finger. it is swollen, and feels bruised, or like a fat lip. im guessing its from raking last night and today, but the damn job still needs to be done. i can have hubby do it, but hes not home, he had to get new fucking tires today (on the car thats slowly dying) because we had a flat and its an all wheel drive.
    re-goddamn-diculous.

so thats $600+ on credit that we dont have the means to pay back.

black walnut can be used to make a dye i believe, and inks too.
