I know I'm a little late, but I just wanted to say welcome back Mothers-Love! Noticed your absence when I came back to this site a few months ago; hope you find the time/resources to make it back here a little more often!

    I have some good news!

I'm going to a HUGE (over 400 vendors) glass convention in Atlantic City in May. It is for retail businesses only, and is a huge convention to connect them to all sorts of paraphernalia vendors.. RooR, HiSi, Zong, High-End glass, High Times will be there, etc etc...

A good friend who owns a headshop in Casa Grande is listing me as an employee for his business (have to own/work for a smoke shop to attend)... I'm going to start looking around in different places, see how much it would cost me to lease a store front in a decent location... Then I'm going to the convention in May, and I'm gonna meet a TON of vendors there and figure out the best way to approach the purchasing of my initial inventory.. Gonna be so awesome!! Hundreds of the best glass companies from ALL over the world, and not to mention just about every well known smoking-accessory vendor too! My friend closed up shop here in NY and took his business out to AZ...he offered to sell me the remainder of his inventory (he started fresh out there, more or less) for a great discount but at the time I passed it up because A) I dont have a store to sell it in, and B) what the hell would I do with that much paraphernalia, tie dyes, incense and whatnot? Didn't seem worth it to me at the time, but at the time I wasn't considering opening up a shop.... Kinda kicking myself for that one. Oh well.

Anyways can't wait to be connected with some insiders in the paraphernalia business! It feels great to be taking steps toward a legitimate career path... and I figure it's a good way to spread some love to the community.... Looking to open in a spot where there is no local headshop, and I've got a few ideas I'm currently looking into...

I do have a few reservations.. money being one of them obviously, as this ain't gonna be cheap.. but that's not a big problem... the issue I keep getting hung up on, is that I don't wanna be "tied down" to NY, so to speak... But I figure if it does work out, I can run things for a while there just to get established and get a good flow going, and then just hire additional staff to run the business if I want to travel..

So theres my good news! Sorry, kind of a long post for SL chat thread...

    Anyways, how is everyone doing?

    Thank you!! Appreciate that :)

Definitely exciting, and the best part is I would have a job that I love. In this day and age how many people get to say that, yanno? And not to mention, I feel like I would be a great shop owner... I don't mean to stroke my ego but I do have quite a bit of knowledge on smoking paraphernalia, and I keep up with all the innovations that are continually happening in the industry and in general I've been around long enough in this whole scene to know whats up with what. I worked at my buddy's head shop before he moved it out west helping him out, so I'm already at least somewhat familiar with how these places operate. And I'm great with people... my goal being to provide the customer with an excellent experience, and generally give good ideas and advice... not just trying to make sales and get that money.

I have a true passion for glass as well. I've been to two different glass museums, blown my own glass (though I'm no good at that), watched the process of glassblowing live, and understand all the latest glass tech (rods, nails, oil smokers, accessories like ashcatchers, diffusers, percs, etc)

Like I said, things are still up in the air... First part is finding a building in a decent location (that isn't ridiculously expensive) to lease. That's going to be the biggest issue most likely...I've got the inventory side of things all taken care of with that convention in Atlantic City in may... that's where my friend gets all his inventory, and he has some SICK shit at his shop.

Here's to hoping and a little bit of hard work! :cheers2:

I usually by tickets and sell them.. I can entertain myself with my own guitar, I dont need to pay for some other band junkies to perform. ,, did that enough giving jerry money for dope.

that's the best attitude to have, and will most likely result in more sales/money in the long run anyway.

i buy from my local headshop even though i can get it all cheaper online because the people are usually really friendly, and i love being able to actually pick up and touch a pipe before i commit to buying it. i also just really like being around so much weed stuff.
