care bear no more.. I looked outside to see something on the snow. first I thought my eyes were being funny, cause it looked like snow.
dog tore his care bear apart. and the stuffing is all over the snow..

    i'm back from town....

found out today from my neighbor that the island is a migratory route for snowy owls..

she drove me to where they hang out.....i stared a snowy owl in the face...

actually he was up a hydro pole but he looked straight down on me....the coolest looking bird i have ever seen live...great big things

now its doobie time and then sting change on a borrowed shite guitar....

drop a wood screw in there to keep it set, if you have no pegs.

i have gotten a lot done today. put most of the xmas decorations in the attic (yay, i finally have an attic! an out of the way, not underfoot or stuffed in a corner place to keep off season stuff!) i need one more rubbermaid tub from the move emptied to get the xmas train set put away, and then that is all done. i got paper garbage picked up, and best of all, i ordered my seeds for my first garden! more than $100 in seeds, but its gonna be SO worth it!
what things do you like to grow, fruit and vegetable wise? im growing popcorn, and sweet corn, amaranth, beans, peas, onions, carrots, parsnips, asparagus, brussel sprouts, red cabbage, black eyed peas, melons, broccoli, cauliflower, a gorgeous purple bell pepper, and TOMATOES
i hate store bought tomatoes. hate, hate, hate. but a fresh homegrown hand picked and sun-warmed tomato is a glorious delight.

can you guess which varieties i ordered? theres a picture in tha catalog of a little girl eating a giant purple tomato like you would an apple. how can you not want to grow heirloom varieties when shown a picture like that. mmmm.

Good Luck! Are you container gardening or putting them all in the ground?

in the ground, finally. we have been in apartments for 8 years, we have never been able to have a real garden. there will be some containers, but the main thing i have to do is build a retaining wall for the back part of the bed, and build a greenhouse, and enclose the whole thing with a rabbit resistant fence. the neighborhood has a healthy rabbit population. im going to grow mushrooms too, shiitakes and winecaps i think i have decided on for now.
