I agree. There's also a freedom in the kitchen that doesn't apply to other jobs. But also there's no such thing as 2-15min and 1-30min break either in the 8+hr day of a cook. But I finally get paid time off. Which is rather rare in the restaurant industry.

So what do you think of these fast food folks that want $15/hr?

Well I think they are full of shit.

As a grill cook I barely made over minimum wage...but it was the place I was working I am sure. This coming week I'm going to start going around to the Huddle Houses and Waffle Houses in town and apply.

I'm fairly certain they won't run a damn SLED background check on me.

my brother used to use my name to avoid criminal charges and child support.. he worked as a cook in a country club.. when I collected the tax returns. I could buy a boat. sometimes he would kick out all 3meals in a day. Im surprised I was never audited.. there is no way to explain how a person is working over 100hr a week..

I'm glad I'm such a smooth criminal. Aside from a handful of alternate side parking and seat belt tickets. I really don't have a record. I got caught for a B&E when I was 17. Taken out of school in hand cuffs. Police report was read over the radio station by my cousin. Shining moment.

PS: stay away from corporations that can afford to pay for background checks.

damn.. I heard one of my buddies was getting a divorce because his wife cheated, and I thought, Good-the dumb bitch was caught.
in turn, he moved to Hawaii to set up things for them because she chose hawaii... and then she calls him and says, Nah I'm not moving there, there's another guy. btw, we're getting a divorce.

LOL! I've truly given thought as to whose name I could use to get a job...but there is NOBODY's name to use but mine. :(

Like I said pages before...ALL of my "trouble" was in/before 4/1997 and for damn simple possessionS and alcohol related things...stupid and embarrassing, but not EVER any kind of stealing or fighting or anything else I consider to be really serious...but WHAT DO I KNOW?!? Not much apparently...plus I never had any idea a piddly minimum wage convenience store clerk position would involve a background check...but again, WHAT DO I KNOW?!? not much :mickey:

They are putting someone in charge of a till and a safe. I'd make sure whoever I was gonna hire wasn't a thief. But that's just me.

*question for the girls on behalf of my girlfriend*

Warning: This post contains female stuff, stuff I wish I didn't have to talk about, but i need help, for her. I will try and keep this short...

So it was her time of the month, she got the cramps and everything, but then no period... It is now 12-13 days late and still hasn't happened... but during these 12-13 days, she still felt pains where you'd normally feel cramp pains every single day, but she said they felt nothing like cramps at all... something completely different, it isn't a constant pain, it comes and goes and only lasts for a few moments... But they don't feel like cramps apparently.

Now today, since about noon, she's been feeling pains again but now they feel like just her typically period pains, like the cramps you get, except... that was at noon, and still no period, and usually she gets them pretty quickly after the cramps apparently... And she's still feeling these cramps now, they've basically been around all day.

This is really weird, right? She's very shy and embaressed easily... so she won't tell anyone, except for me of course, and even though she doesn't want to i'm setting her up a doctors apointment if she doesn't get it by tomorrow... I wouldn't find anything to strange about her period being late, its the non-cramp like pains that concern me... thats not right, is it? (i have no clue.. im just a guy lol).. who should i call? A typical doctor or someone else?

if she's consistantly cramping and has no idea why, and it actually bothers her, she should just buck up and go to the doctor. it could be a serious problem. it could be nothing but a typical doctor can let her know what's up and help

Well yea I think it definitely is some sort of problem, she was completely fine until the day she was supposed to get her period... even that day she was fine, with her typical cramps, but then... it just never came, and she's been feeling weird pains there ever since

but she started feeling her typical period pains again today (the other pains felt different apparently?) so... if she gets it by tomorrow all is good? But if not... then i'm just going to set her up an appointment and bring her there lol

I agree! Plus make whoever you hire take a drug test especially if you have any doubt about them.

Yes I don't think she's ever gotten it removed... I'm not sure if its that though because it doesn't seem like excruciating pain, and it only lasts for a few moments... comes and goes maybe every few hours...

But I agree, doctor asap, I was just kind of wondering if this is a typical girl thing or something, or if any of you have experienced it... I'm assuming it isn't now

Agreed, its not me its her

not gunna lie, she can be pretty damn weird and irritating sometimes in situations like this, i don't get it, maybe its some sort of social anxiety, but she doesn't want to go because she's afraid to call and go to the appointment... so i told her i don't care i'd just do it all and go with her, can i do that? Am I able to make an appointment for someone else? I might need her care card or something i dunno..
