this is my house today.....while we were all out... a fire started in the kitchen and we lost pretty much everything...i dont have much else to say right now...we are safe..my cat somehow survived ..,.trying to regroup...have hospital in the morning in toronto so i gotta jet .. my phone is still working for messages


my daughter took this looking through the stairs that used to lead upstairs looking into my kitchen...you can see my microwave on a table in the corner

--Not that any of you might read all of this, but I thought it was well written and applies to more than just me and more than just this newspaper, many are offenders of the same libel. - Anyways, I am in a debacle with my name appearing on a Google Search under a website with a link "ARRESTS AND SUMMONS" with a description of my arrest and a date - information that I have been told is private now that my case has been suspended. Well, onto it:

As a newspaper of record, it is our policy to publish complete public records — business licenses, marriage licenses, arrests and summonses, etc. — for any given day. Selectively removing pieces of those records would irrevocably damage the integrity of our archives.

You’re not stuck with bad Google results forever, though. If you’re on Facebook or Twitter, if you have a blog or leave comments on websites you should do all of that under your name as it appears on our website. Eventually, newer results will push down the undesired ones.

As I said before, we will be happy to talk with your attorney about the issue. I should say, though, that this is not an uncommon request and I have yet to see our policies change in any case.

Well, if I am not the first, then put me on the list of people that petition to remove your policy of keeping documentation of specific people on specific petty arrest charges as a public domain. If I am the first, I hope you keep this file on your list of documentation as well, and allow open forum on the topic - as your readers are also the people you are committing an offense to.

Columbia is a town largely centered on Universities and the income that students generate. It would be counter-productive to create bad names for the students that attend said institutes by collecting PRIVATE information that is detrimental to possible careers. Thus creating a lesser image of the overall population. *This is not misinformation, this just suggests a certain level of privacy that citizens of the world SHOULD be allowed to experience.

The NAMES can be removed and the arresting matter and counts of arrests per offense could be recorded rather than specific names. The names tag people as criminals for people interested in specific information about a specific person, i.e. future employers. The court could even come to a conclusion that the arrest was unwarranted or even false, alleviating the defendant of 'criminal' record - yet your documentation still alludes to criminal behavior.

You might argue that if I were consciously aware of this at the time of my arrest, I may not have had the illegal marijuana in my possession, but that is an argument that I would make on the morality of the law surrounding PRIVATE use of substance/thought/behavior - much as it is illegal to attend a public event naked, but it is perfectly legal to be remain nude in your home.

Your archival database is nothing more than a collection of dirt on very specific people that can and surely do, as I can tell you, suffer enormously as a result.

I understand you have your integrity as a respected publication to maintain through your policies, but I have my integrity as an every-day person to uphold despite the opposition that you reinforce against me.

I also believe we all have integrity as human beings to not consciously mistreat others and cause other people unnecessary stress, fear, pain or anxiety.

PS: Your suggestion about using my online persona to "wash out" your online record of me may appeal to people that wish to maintain an online persona as directly representational to themselves - but I am not one of them. I currently keep all of my online profiles, except for my business-related e-mails and accounts, separate from my leisure use of the internet. Not because I have something to hide, but because I do not wish for my entire life to be read and pre-determined before anybody were to physically meet me.

And might I add that the narrow view of my 'life' that is obtained through the internet is just that - narrow. I have successfully remained fairly anonymous on the internet, preserving my physical comfort level in day-to-day life, but your individual report on 'me' faults that.


PSS: My name followed by "arrest" in any search engine will still prompt your link - I do not discuss arrests, crime and criminal behavior on the internet, because I am confident that my opinions on those subjects are clearly expressed to those I feel need to know.

we were mistaken for homeless people at the fancy coffee store in the hospital today...lady offered to buy my friend food...she thought i wasnt feeding my kid..he was head to toe in camoflage gear and we both had huge winter boots on..lol...it was fucking warm in toronto...no snow anywhere at all....we had already eaten at another restaraunt and i was getting more coffee...my bud dont drink coffeee so this lady says ''are you hungry little guy..can i buy you some breakfast''.there was a dude on every grate downtown...i picked one that looked way to happy and gave him a couple bucks but i made him promise....'' ...booze or drugs only''...he agreed...i told him i didnt want to see him buying food...i like to ease their conscience if i can
