Not sure if that lightning strike hit the house or a nearby tree... My hair stood on end. I was out in the garage, heard a "fizz" before the crack, and when I came in to check Erin and Spooky, Erin's feathers were all puffed out. There's a lightning array on the roof that has it's main ground wires in the garage.

Freakish... I looked outside just now and all looked normal. Back to big storm now, hope we don't get hail. Car won't fit the garage at the moment.

Okay... Second strike just now. *laying low*

Erin just went into her cage by herself.

    Third... Yikes!

Hollycrap.... There's 3 inches of water in my front yard.

After last post I went back out to the garage and smelled "electrical"... None of the breakers popped but I sure as hell wasn't gonna try to see if the lightning array wires were hot. (as in heat, not electrically alive. System don't work like that) I'd say Burkett Lightening Array System is working as it should... It was put in probably in the 60's and I could hardly get the roofers to understand how important it was to not cut any of the wires. I kept saying "if you cut any of those wires there will be an incomplete system and somebody might die" They thought It was a threat... I had to be on the roof directing their work and watching for their shortcuts. Why can't anybody realize that stuff we used to build back in the day was well thought out and stuff was done for a reason. I just took a direct lightning strike and there was no fire. Power didn't even flicker.

Tomorrow I have to get up there and look for melted shingles.

Burkett Lightning array, there are about 20-25 short lightning rods, solid copper spikes pointing up, (sharp mothers too, don't sit on one) all around the roof to spread the load. There's 4 minor and one major ground wires. Braided copper 1/2 inch main and 3/8 inch secondary ground wires and it's all tied together and separate from electrical ground system. I have more copper on my roof than most people have in their whole house.

A lawyer built this place and spared no expense....

Anyways... That storm started here with that first strike and has now moved on. :2thumbsup:

here there is a creek nearby and the tallest trees around are all along the creek so they get hit instead of the houses

plus now theres a few newer cell towers so they probably get most of them

My house is lower than the trees too... I believe the idea is to actually keep the trees from being hit and falling on the house by having a proper system on the house. Apparently it works. Burkett is still in business and family run. I should write them a letter.

This is the craziest thing I have seen in a long time. I once had a guy go the wrong way in traffic to try to ram me but this guy takes this to a whole new level. A good lesson why you don't let anger get the best of you on the road. You might meet someone like this.
