that's shitty... imagine how many copies of hamlet $2,000/day would buy? that's the problem with high school, there are always a few assholes who ruin it for everyone. university is better for that, since everyone there usually is actually there to learn (and the ones who aren't leave in the first couple of months).

i wonder if schools will eventually move to e-readers for books. sign them out to kids at the beginning of the semester for english classes, you can have the books all preloaded and it's a one-time expense of ~$100... kids would probably just fuck them up though.

 

They were actually thinking of installing those, but they for some reason installed these other alarms that have this hard plastic casing over it which sounds off another alarm once thats opened before pulling the fire alarm, i guess its supposed to scare off anyone trying to pull the alarm as a joke or something?

Exactly, there's always a few people that have to ruin it, they were probably the grads from last year so they didn't really care what happened to the school seeing as how they were leaving anyways. Our school has a reputation for being one of the worse ones in the district though. We get vandalized and smashed windows on a weekly bases lol.

During this whole fire-alarm time last year our school was in "yellow lockdown" mode constantly, which means nobody was aloud to leave the class during class time under any circumstances, which means no going to your locker, no going to the washroom, or any other reason, unless a teacher assisted you, it got that bad... it's pathetic when a 17/18 year old isn't aloud to go to the washroom without assistance by a teacher or VP. But they've gone over board now, our school is beyond strict its getting retarded, i'm so glad i'm done for good this year.

And that would be a good idea, i heard on the news about a few schools (in the states i think) that replaced all paper and books with ipads, everything could be done through there. That would be a pretty good concept i think. But it would most likely only work in some sort of private school, knowing my school they would be trashed and scratched to shit after the first semester, they'd probably only last a year or two. But maybe not, seeing as how they'd probably charge you for any damages... but who knows, some people are retarded lol

 

Ipads as books? American teenagers are already retarded, don't hand them apple products.

 

ipads seem like overkill, so expensive. and reading on one of those is hard on your eyes. just a regular e-reader (kobo, kindle, etc) would work pretty well though.

true, but when newly released books are only available in $20+ hardcover, and the library has 100 holds on the book, pirating an ebook is my only option.
