I think that Charlie wanted to get fired, and that is the reason he asked for the (ridiculously) high amount for each show. I mean, he has BUNCHES of money, he has been on the show for how many years? I think this is the only way he was going to be able to get out of doing it. I'm not saying he does no drugs. Only he (and his dealer - lol) know. I just think it isn't nearly as bad as the media would have us think...and to me, he looks damn good for his age. The dope doesn't seem to have affected him as badly as is written about him. Anybody can have a bad camera day...he looked fine, no better than fine for his age in the different shots I've seen lately. Do y'all expect him to continue to look the same as he did 10 years ago?
I think he's bullshitting them now.. 7gram rocks= Bullshit!.. give em something to talk about.. "hey man 7gram rocks".. its all they really want to print. Give them what they want.
IDK he's only 45 years old, 20 years younger than me. I don't think he's holding up that well. But you're right about the possible planned self-destruct to get out of the show, which BTW should have been about to end. The old eps were good because the underachiever kid fit, but now he's grown, no longer 'half' The whole dynamic was about to change with the 'kid' being a late adolescent, and Charlie looking too old for his middle aged lech role. And, Charlie gets paid (in addition to his replacement) even if he doesn't work if the show continues - so that might be the end of it. Even at that he gets residuals for the syndication.
After watching some of his interviews I thought he was trying to be funny with some underlying hatred. Now I'm not sure, his comical curt retorts seemed to hide something... his anger, his drug dependence, his denial... I'm a little concerned his drug use has actually caused serious brain damage and that's what he may be trying to mask.
Today there's yet another interview with Charlie where he says, "I'm losing my mind", and he asks for help... I saw on CNN an expert in addiction explain all of Charlie's behavior saying that he definitely is NOT on drugs during this extended episode of craziness. He says this is very common among addicts when they stop using drugs. He went down the list of Charlie's behaviors when describing a typical scenario. Self-Aggrandizement Blaming Others Incoherence Non-stop ranting (he had a special term for this, can't remember) Friends support this state by giving him positive feedback, causing even worse outbursts (we've see this happen) He says although it looks like Charlie is high on drugs, this is the substitute high when an addict is off his drug. He get's high on his own ego! And the friends only prolong the agony by supporting this state. This expert says once Charlie comes down off this high, which will definitely happen soon, he will take up the old drugs again. How sad...
From where I sit, fame and fortune are all too often a precursor to self-destruction. It makes me happy that I'm obscure and relatively poor... so in a sense, greedy banksters, wall street hucksters, and government co-conspirators ensured my chance at longevity. Mr Sheen is being done in by simply being a high-profile Sheen.
I think Charlie's Sheen has finally worn off... And that should be "two and a half months" IN rehab... Actually I think Charlie has just provided Chuck Lorre with enough material for a whole new season of the show. Watch Charlie meltdown next season on two and a half addicts... Hey, has Jon Cryer weighed in on Charlie's meltdown yet?
I actually respected the fact that when Piers Morgan asked him if he feels bad for his behaviour or if he's sorry Charlie replied no. As he said (aside from probably being a shitty father) he shouldn't have to feel bad or be sorry to his fans because he likes to have a good time. For one thing, people should not invest themselves so emotionally in someone they only know from television. Also, I don't think one should have to feel bad or be sorry for living the life they choose to live just because others aren't down with it.
To answer my own question, here's a quote from Jon Cryer who apparently has had a public falling out with Charlie... It's from Conan's show. Charlie replied, calling Jon Cryer a "troll" on twitter.
My understanding of addiction- which is admittedly incomplete- is that until the addict faces the real issue and starts down the road to recovery, anyone not enabling the destructive behavior gets pushed away... though in truth I think this is more a general facet of human nature than something specific to addiction. Yes, the sheen has worn off.
i support him, i mean, the only person any of us have to answer to is ourselves. he's a good comedy actor, that's what he is paid to be.
You could not pay me enough to be a celebrity and in the public eye. Thats why I don't really understand why people like Paris Hilton want to become famous for being famous, or why some people long to be plucked from obscurity by some reality show and become a household name. Sometimes fame is a byproduct of art and hard work, for actors and similiar professions. But to chase fame for fame's sake? I wouldn't wish fame on my worst enemy so it blows my mind that there are people out there whose main life goal is to be known to the folks that have a subscription to People and US Weekly. Remember what happened to Britney Spears? She was a pop darling, everybody worshipped that girl. The media, her young fans, every single heterosexual man alive couldn't get enough of her. Then the fame started to get to her, because being scrutinized every day of your life is going to eventually get to even the most mentally stable person. And instead of getting any kind of support from her legions of fans, everyone turned on her and laughed as her ship sank and she suffered through a very public mental breakdown. People are not entirely unlike a viscous pack of snarling wolves.
I really don't think I'd want millions and millions of dollars because I'm sure I'd probably turn out exactly like Charlie Sheen. If I had a relatively endless supply of money and pornstars for friends, yea, I certainly wouldn't be sitting around reading at night.
We had an addict in our family for 10 years. She was a liar,a thief and certainly an addict. She has given up being a family member, any friendship with us and what makes me realize how strong addiction can be--her beautiful 7 year old daughter,my grand daughter.Until they face and discover the basic underlying cause/s of their NEED to be addicted--nothing can change. The man,Charlie, has and is making a fool of himself on a daily basis and will continue to do so unless he gets a handle on what's really the cause of his addictions. I predict he's going to be really sorry and embarrassed some day when he looks back on his foolish behaviour. Or maybe just be some old addicted has-been actor with no family and that no one will hire.
