My mate got an old and quite skanky chandelier of off Craig's List. According to it's original documentation, it's all hand-cut leaded crystal (under a thick encrustation of dust and nicotine). We spent the whole evening working together disassembling and cleaning it (it reeked of at least 50 years of cigarette smoke ; P ). She'd periodically go into the living room, hold up a freshly cleaned bauble to the light, and squee delightedly when it cast little rainbows all over the room. I can't even begin to express what it's like to see her so engaged and happy.
I love restoring old stuff to it's former glory! Would anyone care to rejuvenate me so carefully? I promise there is no layer of nicotine on this object... just 67 years of living. That sounds like fun overall, and I am glad your mate was so happy.
