any chaga pickers here? im thinking about going on a chaga hunt...just wondering if anyone here uses it or harvests any tips would be good if youre experienced with this stuff
here's a link in case you have no idea what im talking about and are interested in looking it up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inonotus_obliquus
I saw this thing for a few times, but never knew it's called Chaga and that someone goes picking it didn't come to my mind either.
Hello, I would try it, but I haven't found the fungus in my area yet. From what I've heard some people like its distinct taste and some hate it . Some people from the northern countries swear on chaga's medicinal properties. But I'm not an expert with that. For me it's enough to know that it wouldn't kill me . Regards Gyro
found some today it looks young though...im not sure if its the good kind gonna let it dry then get someone i know who is familiar with it to check the quality
Oh cool. I use to go mushroom foraging with my family when I was a kid (on Mount Royal) every fall. My dad was very knowledgeable with fungi. I've never picked chaga. We mainly picked what Slavs call "pidpenky", Honey Mushroom (Armillaria mellea).Chaga is supposed to be very healthful. Apparently the tea tastes like kukicha tea which I love. I may have to keep my eye out for it! Let us know how you like them once you try them.
