Starting in the 1980's, I noticed people in certain jobs never seemed to tell you their political views. At least when they were working. A police officer once did that with me. And I was in a work program in early 1988. A man who worked there, who I think had a job similar to a counselor, never seemed able to tell us his political views. Finally I heard him tell a lady he wasn't allowed to. I live in Michigan, BTW. I think that's a good idea. Also, I don't think your political views should disqualify you for jobs like firefighter, paramedic or policeman. Unless they are really controversial, of course.
I beg to differ concerning the supreme court, which is pretty near to being right wing in their political stances. Not always , but pretty near.
