I don't remember every bakery making meat pies. Depended on the bakery. Bread? No chance, but pastry on the other hand...
The best pie shops in Aus to me were Jindabine and Braidwood. They're on the way to the snow and the coast. Half way stops. Best. Ever. Though I remember being disappointed when travelling at Easter and mum wouldn't let us have meat. I also remember the first time I drove in my own car and ate that meat pie and sausage roll on good Friday. :D

I don't know. i only have had them as a child when my parents would buy the frozen ones.....and they were pretty good, as I remember....and I do know that groceries carry them in the frozen sections here..................and I would think that making your own would be wonderful...only, I am not an expert at wonderful pie crust....I never tried to make pie crust....could be a reason I am not an expert..... :D

Went by the pie place and they just happened to have a cherry pie right out of the oven....friend came over last night and Stan and she ate almost half the pie already. My piece of pie was bird sized last night, but I might make up for it later....lolololol...

This is what is left of it as of now. best cherry pie ever....

next time I go there will be in Nov for a pumpkin pie or two for thanksgiving...they are seasonal from July 4th to Thanksgiving. they told me to put in order for pumpkin a month in advance....wow....

I went to Slough Polytechnic in the UK where I grew up for two years full time. Like many other chefs I moved around a bit.I have not been full time chef for ten years. Hospitality is not an occupation I recommend anyone get into.
BTW do you have a decent rolling pin IE one that roller bearings and metal pie tins? I don't like ceramic ones as they do not cook evenly.
