When I was still in grade school, they told us that Easter is really only holiday Jesus commanded us to celebrate. He did this during the the Passover celebration, at the Last Supper, when he said "do this in memory of me" (Luke 22:19). And Easter, basically is just our version of the Passover. Even though it's based on Ēostre, an Anglo-Saxon spring goddess. Well, Passover happens around the vernal equinox too (probably because it is itself based on a Canaanite farming festival). So it is pretty pagan too. But some Christians say that the Jewish festivals are the only true ones even Christians should be following. Christmas is pagan. And so is Easter (though they do celebrate Passover, as I've said). They also, being Biblical literalists, celebrate Sukkot or the Feast of Booths. Called the Feast of Booths because the Bible says "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of booths for seven days unto the Lord". Meaning to celebrate you are supposed to build a small rectangular box in front of your house, as some Jewish people still do. Not inside your house, not in the backyard. But a couple of feet on your property, in the front. Now, I would still build it in back. Because I don't think your neighbor will like a small dwelling like that, made of wood and curtains and ornaments, in front of your house. At the very least they will think it's weird. But that is just me.
