Last night my boyfriend saw me posting on here and when he saw my sig pic freaked out that someone might use it as their own. We have been watching heaps of episodes of the MTV show 'Catfish' recently, where people who have fallen in love online are finally brought together to meet IRL. In most episodes one person has used fake photos of a model or something as their own. The drama when the two meet IRL is quite hilarious. I think there has only been one instance I have seen so far where both people were 100% who they said they were! I pointed out to my boyfriend that my sig pic doesn't even show my face, and regardless, I am hardly a model. But it made me curious - has anyone on here ever 'catfished' online? Used fake photos of a random hottie they don't know? Why? It strikes me as so strange!
No. I'm a terrible liar and wouldn't be able to keep the lies straight. Honesty works for me the best.
No, but I remember years ago there was some drama about someone doing that on this site and I wouldn't be surprised if it has happened recently as well or perhaps is still happening on this site.
Oh lord. When I was younger, maybe about 12, I Catfished because I was scared of predators. LOL. :mickey:
I was going to take your pic, crop it down to just you and start a new account here. But I'm far too lazy, sorry.
Goood morning, I have to do it because I'm extraordinarily good looking and everyone would recognise me. Regards Gyro
No, but it happened to me once lol Sucks because we clicked so goddamn well, she fell in love with me and I fell for her. Too bad she was a fat black chick lmao (the black is irrelevant, more an issue with the fat lol)
I've heard that term catfishing, but I never knew what it meant. So it means making a false internet persona with someone else's pictures (for any purpose?) I was about to say no, but I once made a fake myspace like 10 years ago, so I could flirt with lesbians incognito. It lasted like a week and it was boring and pointless.
It's also an attack strategy of some hackers. They'll create a fake profile of some hottie and go to dating chat sites. They'll flirt around to build trust and then send the victim to an attack site which has ''more pictures of them''. I've never catfished of course. I'm really really, ridiculously good looking.
Hello, I wouldn't call them hackers. But anyways, I always wonder how this works. You find a hot girl (I suppose it only works this way ) and then she tells you to go somewhere else and put your credit card number in to see more of her or to send her money for a flight ticket so she can visit you? Hello? How stupid are people? Regards Gyro
I wouldn't either, petty cyber crooks. But the site is an attack site, it injects malicious javascript into your browser which allows them to upload software to your computer. Banking Trojans in the worst case, like that FBI virus which was going around earlier this year. Of course there still are a few of the old send money to your Russian sweetheart sort of things still going around I'm sure.
Hello, currently cease and desist letters are the newest rage in Germany. A law company is (was?) mass sending letters to redtube porn streaming users and wants them to pay for copyright infringement. It's very dubious because it's a bit fuzzy how to handle copyright of streaming media content, it's even more dubious how they get the IP addresses of the users and why a court ordered the ISPs to give out the names of the users, etc. ppp. Now it seems to backfire on the law firm, the court stated that they might have done wrong to ask the ISPs for the names and addresses, the collecting of the IP addresses could have been illegal and there are hints that users got tricked onto that webpages. This becomes interesting . I arrrr so hot, want to marry me you? Give me sent money fast. Kisses. Gyr^WAnnika
lol, thanks. usedtobehoney - do you remember the username of the person who was caught cat fishing on here? Was it someone prominent?
Hello, maybe it's some fella from Australia, well known for throwing his pics all over the site . Cheers Gyro
