I know I've heard some people online say they want their cats to eat a vegan diet like they do. And I guess you might have some good moral and even health arguments with that one. But you should never feed your cat a vegan diet. Here, I just looked it up: Search: "can you feed a cat a vegan diet?" Google AI Overview: … No, you should not feed a cat a vegan diet: Nutritional needs: Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they need to eat meat to get the nutrients they need, like taurine and arachidonic acid. Cats can't synthesize taurine like humans and dogs can, so they must get it from animal sources. A vegan diet can lead to taurine deficiency, which can cause heart disease and poor eyesight. Digestive system: Cats aren't adapted to a plant-based diet, and their digestive system can't handle it. Foods: Many commercially available vegan cat foods don't meet a cat's nutritional needs.
This is a hard subject to get a grasp on. I agree that Cats, and Dogs should not be encouraged to be "Vegan." Vegans exercise a rigid view of nutrition are inappropriate for carnivores. It has to be said that cats eat other things than animals exclusively. When I was young we had a cat that loved toast with butter, cut in bite sized pieces. The same cat also liked Pizza without beer (He might have enjoyed a saucer of Beer however). As mammals they like milk (An Animal Produce without meat). At halloween I am always fascinated to see lions, tigers, and dog like carnivores enjoying pumpkins. It might work to feed a carnivore seasoned tofu in variety of formulations. My point is that in nature wild carnivores may eat fruit and vegetables when meat or game is scarce.
