Casey Kasem

One of the most successful and popular DJ's in American history. He passed away over the weekend, at the age of 82. He was the original host of the pop countdown show, American Top Forty.

Casey had a natural talent for storytelling, getting much of my generation hooked on music trivia. I used to listen to the whole show, every Sunday afternoon, and still remember some of the stories.

 

Wow, theres a name I hadnt heard in a while, we used to get that show here, listened to it as a kid

 

You may have also seen the Scooby Doo cartoons back then. Casey was the voice of Shaggy.

He also did voice-overs for lots of American TV commercials.

 

I don't know how many Sundays I spentered sitting in my room listening to America's top 40.

I remember many of my teenage weekends were spent waiting for that Top 40 Countdown and Casey Kasem's voice.

Without a doubt, he made a great deal of difference in getting people interested in not just that Top 40 but in music trivia overall.

RIP Casey.
