Where I live, local Judge Kathleen Ryan is accused of making racist statements to a friend over phone. There was another story like that a while back. An angry boyfriend taped a judge making racist statements, it was reported. I don't know exactly what to say on that. Let me explain carefully.

Making racist statements has to do with if a judge can be impartial. I see that. But political beliefs in general, I don't know. They say some of the guards let the rioters in, January 6th. Because they supported them. That's wrong. But as far their political views, and whether that should qualify you being a guard, or a judge for that matter. If they are privately held political views, and just a little controversial, perhaps not. But if you believe in the overthrow of the government. Or that each American is a sovereign nation. So they don't have to follow the rules here. Those beliefs alone might disqualify you, even if you never tell anyone of them.

Also, in 1994 a New York City police officer posed nude for Playgirl magazine. And he was immediately fired. For conduct unbecoming an officer. Now I had no doubt at the time that was just silly. What he did in his private life was none of their business. Irregardless of the official rules. Now if an officer committed a crime. A misdemeanor. But one of violence, theft, disorder or that showed he couldn't be trusted. That might be different.

    Regardless.

Remaining neutral regarding any subject is not easy for humans to do. There are sets of written and unwritten societal laws / customs that are supposedly accepted by those who sit in judgement over citizens legally. That ones opinion can often color ones judgement is a fact of life.
