Sometimes cats have amazing recuperative capabilities when left to their own, sometimes they need human intervention. Hard to tell in advance unless the cat is friendlier than you describe this one. If it was serious and she trusted you she probably would have come closer/let you come closer. I hope you find her and it's just an upset stomach.
I had just about given up and looked out my bedroom window to see her sitting in the middle of the yard across the street. I went to her and she weakly meowed at me. I talked to her and knew I couldn't pick her up and bring her home. I walked away and kept calling her. To my amazement, when I looked back, she was slowly following me. It took me forever to get her coaxed back across the street. She came to the front trees in the natural area and laid down. She's for sure got a back foot troubling her. I brought food and water out to her and she had some of each and then just laid down in the sun. I went back out to talk to her, and a miracle occurred! She let me pet her head and jaw. She ever rubbed her jaw against my fingers. I petted down her spine. She seemed to like it all. Then I made some dumb move with my foot and startled her. So she moved a few inches away, kind of under the low cypress branches. She's been out there and is still there. I know she is moving around. I saw her along side of my car, walking and returning to the spot in the leaves. My daughter said that she ran like a streak of lightening when she went to her car, yet she is back in the spot in the leaves now. She looks so tired. I took the food back to her and she was eating when I came inside. I wish I could get her to come under the carport for the night. It's dark, chilly, and supposed to storm tomorrow. Anyway, going to talk to her some more and take the water to her now. Almost forgot to mention that Thunder Cat has been limping on one of his back feet also. Is this some illness with back leg pain as a symptom?
Not that I know of... One of the first things vets seem to ask is about antifreeze... The usually don't eat or drink after that. At least she is trusting you... Let her decide how much but give her as much as possible.
Now, she has gotten out of the leaves in the front yard and gone and bedded down somewhere. That's all I was concerned about. I didn't want her weak and sleeping in the open.
Found this and thought it was a pretty good list. Things in here that I didn't know: Cat Disease Signs http://www.gopetsamerica.com/cat-health/cat_disease_signs.aspx
Ty, the next thing I was going to ask you was about Spooky and Erin. How are they? What are they doing? Do they get told that Aerianne thinks about them and asks after them?
LOL - you always know how to make me laugh. :2thumbsup: The reason for that is that I can look up my saved mail without going on-line, and that looked like the kind of info I might want to put my hands on without having to look it up. :mickey:
The porch baby has started warming up to us and since he gets the share that Buddy used to get now, he's a round little tubby thing. He's on a diet now. lol. He's still very skittish, but he loves my fiance (he swears he hates cats, but he's so good with them, lol). He hangs out about as often as Buddy did, but he doesn't leave the yard much. His mama sometimes pops in, but we'll go weeks, if not months without seeing her. It's kind of a relief that we're down to one regular feral and it's a male. Here's to hoping mama doesn't have another litter under the house. lol
I have an update on Baby Kitty. She's doing fine. Yesterday when I went outside, she came out from somewhere and was meowing up a storm at me. She was walking toward the porch to greet me. I told her that I'd go get some food and when I came back with it she met me on the porch. I sat the food down beside me and took a seat. She ate on the porch right beside me. Today, she's been out and about, socializing with the other cats.
I have Baby Kitty in a cat carrier in my bedroom. Yesterday, she was just laying curled up in the leaves out in the open. I petted her and talked to her. She got up and went to the food bowl. When I came outside after a few minutes, she was curled up in the leaves again. It was getting toward dark. I just listened to my intuition, got a towel, and scooped her up. She didn't put up any resistance. I put her in the cat carrier and took her to my room where she's been since then. I pet her and she purrs. I noticed that during the night she did change position in the carrier but she's still up against the door where I put her. Later today, I'll see if she's interested in getting up and eating some Fancy Feast I bought her. Right now, she just seems so exhausted.
I decided to go ahead and bring her out, while the puppy was quiet and not bothering. Baby Kitty had gone potty in the carrier. While I cleaned the carrier, she came out and had some water and some food. She seems to really love being rubbed and talked to. She went straight back to the carrier with no problem. She's resting again.
We have 3 "porch cats" that we feed outdoors. It's a little hard to tell if they are feral or abandoned pets. I think they were probably pets. There's a mom and her kitten that are both orange tabby and a grey male that came later. The mom and babe just showed up one day and we started putting food out for them and they started hanging around mewing and begging when hungry. The mom is hilarious because if she's hungry and I step out of the apartment to walk to the mail box or laundry room, she'll follow me sometimes trotting behind me and sometimes darting from bush to bush.
