Willow went missing yesterday. It was cold and rainy last night. He didn't come home. I called and called. Emma and I walked half the neighborhood a little while ago, with me calling and calling. Hubby and I drove the rest of the neighborhood and the one that backs up to ours. Nothing. I'm about to make some posters and go put them up...If my son can print them. My printer doesn't work. I'm sick with an ear infection, feel like shit, about to lose my mind looking for my baby. Getting exhausted.
Willow came home this morning! He'd been inside someone's house. He was all clean and dry and fed. If you lose a pet get busy with the signs!
None of my cats ever strayed. they all know their home...and if they are gone for too long....it is always the worst....except for one time.....I had a cat, Petey....my favorite at the time....He never strayed....gone for about a week. i gave up ...lost hope....but he dragged his ripped open underside home that was turning gangreen somehow....and i got him to the vet just in time to save his life......He was the one that eventually was murdered by the neighbor troubled kid in my last house , finally, though...i think, which got me out of there FAST.... The reason i finally moved to here....only to have Houdini...another favorite cat disappear the first year here... I know some predator got him...He was small...now, my cats are on 2 hours in the daylight only out there with me keeping careful watch of the two that like to be outside the most.
before i let any cats out now...I make a lot of noise out there first to scare any predators that might be near away....and go out there every 20 mins or so and call for the cats and make more noise. Cats always come running.....and they are used to very limited time out there now,....with me distracting anything...predators and anything they can prey on, as well.
There are at least a dozen feral cats that I feed. They've never been inside at all. They come with inborn instincts for safety. That's why it's so difficult to tame them; they view humans as dangerous.
I got some cat collars with a reflective strip. I can't wait to put Bane's on him. I worry because he's deaf and can't hear cars. That cat will not stay indoors. I have ordered an id plate that slips on the collar for Willow because he's so cute and friendly.
The semi-ferals are reproducing...I wish that I'd been able to get them fixed before now. On about Tuesday, Meezie gave birth. She's got two black-headed, siamese-looking twins. Her daughter, Pretty Face, gave birth last night...in the box with her mother and new little siblings! I don't know how many she had. I peeped and saw one little nickel-sized head nursing. She was so worried when she was in labor last night. She wanted to be picked up and held and held. This morning she got my attention and wanted me to hold her some more. She wanted me to know what happened to her last night. She's proud! So, now we have the two of them in the same box with I don't know how many kittens.
I think Meezie's kittens are quite a bit older than Pretty Face's. Meezie's kittens little eye slits are opening. Pretty Face has 3 teeny kittens. One is black with beige on it's face, the other two are grey striped. Baby Fluffily is still waddling around with a huge stomach. Little Baby (Almost Collar Kitty) is still pregnant. Collar Kitty is the most feral. I saw her at the bowl last night. I have no idea if she's had kittens or not. She won't miss the opportunity, that's for sure.
Baby Fluffily has kittens. I've only seen two so far. Poor thing. She had them in a little box right beside the door. It's up on a footstool. She's going to have to move out when they start moving around.
Baby Fluffily didn't like me showing her kittens to my daughter. She moved all 4 of them, a black one and 3 blonde ones, to the brush pile in the across the street neighbor's back yard. Maybe she will bring them back over here after a little while has passed.
I know that Little Baby had her kittens a couple of days ago. When I was in the carport, after Baby Fluffily had moved her litter, I heard Little Baby's kittens. The are in there somewhere or under the porch.
Two of Meezie's kittens were by the water bowl with their mother last night. They're out of the nest and moving around.
Meezie's two siamese looking kittens are gorgeous! They are coming out to the food bowl but not eating yet. They will make beautiful pets for some lucky people. I wish I could keep them.
I got to see Lil' Baby's kittens this morning. She moved them from the soffet, behind the facia board, to the old dresser in the carport. I saw three kittens.
I just did a head count on the back porch. Meezie has three kittens and Pretty Face has three kittens. That last time I saw Baby Fluffily's kittens there were four. In a couple of weeks I'll have to put all 13 kittens in a box and try to give them away at the ballpark, or walmart, or somewhere.
This morning, I discovered that "Shadow" who lives out back with Meezie and Pretty Face, has no testicles. I took Hubby's word that Shadow was a male cat. This evening, I saw Shadow nursing part of the brood of kittens back there. Shadow is female. Duh.
Menards had a sale on canned cat food. (9Lives) 24 pack for 6 bucks. We couldn't pass up that deal, so we got 96 cans. It's sounds like alot of food, but those kittens eat like crazy. Should hopefully last a month as long as my MIL doesn't over feed them. Feeding cats under her porch is about the only thing my MIL does that won't piss me off.
