Apparently, under that massive amount of fur, Squirrely Baby was found to be Male, not female. I rec'd an emailed receipt a few minutes ago even though I don't pick him up until 3:00 this afternoon.

    Yay!

Males are cheaper to alter than females.

Bane, the deaf Angora, can hear a little bit.

I'm dreaming that one day his hearing will heal.

I was looking at Ozzy this morning, out in the wind and snow...I looked up some cats and he appears to be a Norwegian Forest Cat. I have got to update some pics.

Willow's favorite thing, for two days now, is to give my computer mouse a quick punch that sends it flying off the back of the keyboard tray.

He is a bratty teenager now.

Ok I'm bumping here because I know I've got stuff I need to talk about re cats outside. Let me rephrase that - things I'll want to ask about cats outside.

That dingdang queen-in-heat was ready to greet me from the top of the washer not long ago. I thought she and Sam were together somewhere, at her fucking house.

    gah!

poor pitiful Mr. Tips wheezing, his ears having problems, looking like absolute hell, hair ripped off and matted. Surely Sam will come creeping in tonight. Last night he slept on top of the freezer, his usual place with beat down Mr. Tips on the throw rugs on the chair.

Pussy gonna mess things up every time. :wall:

There's a tom that wanders around here; he has completely lost his right ear from fighting. He's been around a couple of years and he's a tough one.

I need to trap him and take him in for neutering or just take him to the pound. He is the father of about half the cats I have now.

I noticed yesterday that he has a big line of dark drainage from that ear. It probably would be kindest to just take him to be put down.

Whoever owns/owned that cat should be fined thousands of dollars.

Right now, it would help ALL of my pent up aggression if I could find out who owned/owns that queen and the pitiful Mr. Tips. I'm serious...

I would do something to their sorry asses. good for nothing POS

BOTH of those animals are as tame as can be.

Really, it brings out the  in me...or makes me want to beat the  out of POS "owners".

The tom you're talking about sounds pitiful. I think thousandS of dollars of fines and no less than 1K community service hours should be given those that are proven to abandon an animal.

I'm not even going to start on what I think should happen to those that hurt/abuse an animal.

The reason it hasn't occurred to me to call the animal shelter nor take him there is because I know exactly what they will do. I'm not ready to give up hope on him yet.

I happened to catch a glimpse of the queen as she strutted across the road to come into the yard...at the end of the driveway. There is No Telling where all she could be coming from.

Then when I looked out on the porch as short time later she was stretched out on her red Princess blanket (old and folded) on top of the washer. I went on out and stopped and just hung my head down, with my hands on the back of the washer. As I stood there she PURRED LOUD and head butted my head and face. wth is happening, I thought. smh

    lordhavemercy

her body is very sturdy and perfect, as is her fur

    good grief

she is a very experienced petter ... she petted me very well

this was not her 1st petting rodeo

I saw him a few minutes ago and he is fine. Yesterday he may have had some pinestraw or a leaf stuck to some drainage from his ear. He didn't have any thing on his face today and look pretty fit.

Aeri, I'm glad to hear your resident tom is actually good and fit. :)

Right now its raining and I'm honestly glad that Mr. Tips has found his own sheltered place to sleep with food and water. Princess is out there also. If I had that beautiful, petted to the core cat I would be losing my mind hunting her. I find myself not judging the person that lets her be outside for letting her have an outside life...I DO want to smack them for not having her fixed. As I love and pet her, I hope someone is doing that exact same thing for Sam.

Already Mr. Tips is looking much better and even sounding better.... just a little sneezing and even though I KNOW its too soon for his wheezing to have cleared up, I'm not hearing it.

Should Sam appear on this rainy night, which he is subject to slip in at some late late (or early am) hour, his place is empty on the freezer, just waiting for his mighty alpha self. :D I do realize I'm probably crazy since I think I'm totally sane :D but when all is said and done, I think as long as Mr Tips keeps his distance from Sam, they will be ok. The porch isn't really small, and there is Plenty of yard!

2 things about these new outside cats: I need to get them a rabies shot asap and I'm not going to have this female fixed until I give her OTHER people a little time to at least advertise it in the paper or go around the neighbor looking for her. Yet I'm already thinking/planning/knowing I'm going to get her fixed.

Otherwise, regarding outside cats here on this property - I want them. I would MUCH rather feed cats than snakes.

For what its worth, I sure am glad you started this thread Aeri. Its greatly needed and I'm grateful to have a place to come and discuss crazy cat people stuff.

I truly love dogs...well, all animals...but dog rescue is a THING. People DO that, its not an unheard of or unaccepted thing. That being said...cat rescue is a very little to not-at-all promoted thing, and rarely discussed. You hear about organizations (such as the Humane Society) helping with spaying and neutering but that is damn it.

I guess "cat rescue" is one of those things that starts (and finishes) at home, at least in this state.

It is a whole different world, Lynn.

It may be that cats are more self-sufficient than dogs are. Dogs need humans and cats really don't need us to survive.

You are right about cats being more self sufficient. I know if you leave a cat with plenty of food and water, they are fine for a couple or 3 days (inside!). I've known people that have left their inside cat for 5 days, come home and the cat was fine...all the food wasn't even eaten. They had a water dispenser kind of thing and there was enough water left for quite some time. The same cannot be said for a dog.

Still though, there is a need to help felines that aren't feral, living in the country where there is a food and water source. It has taken this last situation for it to sink in my head that if I want to help a cat, then I am the one that will have to do it. By help, I do mean more than get it spayed or neutered. AND these places that talk about "helping" to spay or neuter...they don't mean they will "help" catch/trap the animal...hell no. lol

Well, unless they are planning to kill/euthanize the animal and then they are willing to come "help" get it.

I've got the runt from August in the house tonight. His name if "Baby Gray Baby". His siblings are outside.

When I came home from the store tonight, he took a long time to move out of the way of the car and I saw that he was limping in his hind quarters. (Appears to be back left leg).

He is in the cat carrier on my bed and loving it. I checked him over. There don't appear to be any lacerations, dislocations, etc.

I'll put him back outside for a while during the day tomorrow and see how he does.

The pitiful and very sweet Mr. Tips disappeared a couple of days ago. I sincerely hope that the people in the haunted house have taken him in but I haven't been able to ask them. I did go out there and knocked on the door but nobody came (even though there were cars out there). From a couple a conversations I had with them a couple of years ago I do know they like cats so I do have reason to hope. I'm fairly certain that Sam was just too intimidating for him.

Sam's new wife is on the porch, in her place on the washer. I have old cut up blankets all around her, sort of like a little warm wall. She is so special even her claws are neatly trimmed. Earlier tonight I tried to go to the local newspaper online and place an ad saying she is a "found" cat...but a part of me STILL thinks WTH didn't her owners have her fixed already. I was able to get to EVERYWHERE in this stupid local paper but to the classified ads (where they list found animals). I keep looking in the paper and nobody is advertising a lost cat.

If BB was such an anti-cat "person" I would have already brought that sweet girl inside.
