Number 5 has snapped out of whatever was wrong last night and is acting fine! I still have #5 and #6 of the kittens.
This past week when the visitors were here, we were talking and I said I couldn't stand being alone...and my brother asked what would I do when (if, I say) something happens to Mama...and I told him that I wouldn't be alone! I have my cats. That is my truth. And yes, 99.9% of the time I like and love my cats (and animals overall) MUCH MORE than I like r/l people.
I lost my biggest kitten today. I have one left. Previously, I had called this one Jumbo Tron. Now, it's name is Willow.
I started giving Willow some Amoxicillin yesterday. I had it leftover from when the females were spayed. It has turned that kittens health around!
That sucks...one by one they died. I am so sorry...I hope the one makes it.....sounds like a contagion that affected them all.....
Yes, it does. My daughter took one of the feral kittens from another litter. It began having bad diarrhea so she took it to the vet. A stool culture showed something that the vet gave antibiotics for. When I heard that I remembered the antibiotics I had left from when the females finished their prescribed course. Now, I'm all full of the "If I'd only thought to try it on the other kittens..." Willow seems to be responding very well. Edit- This is Bane, who is the only one of Mystic's litter who didn't disappear. Bane is deaf.
Kitten #6 is still hanging in there and getting cuter than ever. We had to him to the ballpark Saturday. Everybody loved him and he lovef the attention. I just saw Mystic's 3 Kittens. They are big and beautiful just like Polka's. Apparently, Rainy wasn't part of that litter as I had thought. I've got my camera out and hopefully will get some pics today.
He gave us a big scare last night. I had slowed his antibiotic to once a day, after having it twice a day for 5 days. One feeding he was fine and 4 hours later he was sick to the point of refusing food and getting weak, quickly. I gave him the antibiotic and some sugar water. He slept all night and seemed fine this morning.
I'm taking Miss Honey Bear in for spaying on next Tuesday. I'm going to try out the mobile pet clinic. This spaying has been partially sponsored by a member at Hip Forums! Thank you!
My best friend's cat died when Sugar was 22 yrs old. They never got another one... My brother's cat was 18 yrs old when she died and this was over 10 yrs ago. He has just recently begun saying he was "considering" getting another one.
I'll be bringing Honey Bear home from the spaying shortly. I have already made appts to have Louie and Ozzy neutured in July. Then all the indoor cats will be fixed; except for Mabon who was to weak to under go even the anesthesia when we tried in November. In August the outdoor kitties will probably have another litter. That gives me all Fall and Winter to trap them and take them in. It's just hard because I can't afford to get but one or two done a month.
My daughter is bringing me a kitten that she just found in a dumpster...great. She promised to get it out of here in a day or so.
One of my daughter's friends is paying for me to take the dumpster kitty to the vet tomorrow. It's a sweet little grey kitten. I've never heard one have so much congestion.
Lucky, the dumpster kitten, went to the vet. It has conjunctivitis and sinusitis. I have antibiotics and eye ointment to use on it. Now, my daughter has to find it a home!
