Shale hasnt started a thread about this one, fuse this thread with it if he does Just wanted to say this is quite possibly the best superhero movie ever made Way better than I thought it would be On one hand a kind of boring plot in a way, but on the other hand no ridicous aliens invading New York / blowing up the Golden Gate bridge in cinema for the 100th time, no real ridiculousness all A layered plot that was real meat and potatoes stuff Bucket load of characters, and yet somehow none of them seemed wasted No CGI Hulk thankfully No real baddie either, goodie vs goodie storyline I thought this was way better than the Avengers, and pretty much everything else You need to see in in the cinema, especially for the Antman / Giant Man scene
It's between this and Dark Knight, best superhero movies of all time for me. The only ridiculous part is when they show the destruction the Avengers have caused, ie short video of ridiculous aliens invading New York. And I have to say, the cameo for the new Spiderman is AWESOME. I didn't like Toby McGuire or that other kid in the role, but this new guy seems perfect to me. Looking forward to the upcoming Spiderman movie now. Edit: I really liked the Deadpool movie too so that is up there on my list.
Its just short of making a billion at the box office now, so more popular than most thought it might be
Captain America: Civil War Movie Blurb by Shale May 23, 2016 This movie was released in the States on May 6th when I was on a ship in the Atlantic. It had been running in England since the last week of April when I saw this marquee in London on May 15th. But, I didn't have 2 and a half hours to see it then, nor for the first week of returning home because of other business with moving. But, fearing I was going to lose my Nerd creds, I decided to bike 8 miles to the Aventura Cine and see it today. IDK why I am even posting this movie blurb so late. All the ppl who intend to see it have seen it already at least once. And, for those not really into Captain America, know that it is not a stand alone movie. To really enjoy it you will have to be familiar with all the Captain America and Avengers movies, which are referenced casually here. Also, Ant-Man and Spider Man. This movie is a real conglomerate of the Marvel Superheroes from The Avengers to a couple of outsiders that appear destined to become Avengers - altho there is (by the title) discord amongst the Avengers of whom we are familiar It seems The Avengers are carrying the blame for all the collateral damage that occurs when they battle some of the most egregious of foes. It's like Fox is the only cable news source and everyone is following it. When innocent bystanders get killed in their latest mission all the nations of the world want to put them under the control of the U.N. It is being ratified as the Sokovia Accord - named after the nation that was being lifted into the sky to cause world destruction and of course where many ppl were killed before being rescued by the Avengers. Surprisingly, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) who was labeled as self-centered and couldn't play well with others, seems to lead the group that will go along with the UN Accords. But Captain America (Chris Evans) is skeptical and is supported by Sam Wilson "Falcon" (Anthony Mackie) and Jane Carter's niece Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp). When surveillance cams show Bucky Barnes "Winter Soldier" (Sebastian Stan) Capt. America's old pal from WWII who is seriously mind controlled leaving the scene of a deadly bomb attack in Vienna, the Captain goes to apprehend him rather than let the others kill him. This causes a rift in the Avengers and makes outlaws of everyone on the Captain's team. They are joined by HawkeyeJeremy Renner), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). Cap's Team The rest of The Avengers with Iron Man are Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), James Rhodes "War Machine" (Don Cheadle) and Vision (Paul Bettany). Stark recruits Peter Parker or " Spider-Man" (Tom Holland). Also, showing up as a loose canon on Stark's team is T'Challa "Black Panther" (Chadwick Boseman) who is out for personal vengeance against Bucky Barnes. Stark's Team This movie is action from the start and some serious infighting among the Avengers, with ppl wanting to subdue their former comrades without killing or seriously injuring them. However, suspension of disbelief is necessary not to have serious injury with the hand-to-hand, weapon-to-weapon battling that they do. (To their credit, everyone was bruised and bleeding and the wounds stayed thru the whole movie - not disappearing in the next scene) Like the 90% percent of the aggregate reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes, I really enjoyed this movie. Their consensus is, "Captain America: Civil War begins the next wave of Marvel movies with an action-packed superhero blockbuster boasting a decidedly non-cartoonish plot and the courage to explore thought-provoking themes."
It was a great movie for sure. I feel kind of bad though at the fact it was titled a Captain America movie and honestly it's an Avengers movie. I loved the fight between Barnes, Falcon, and Spiderman though.
I thought it failed to live up the name of Civil War, it wasn't a civil war, it was a dispute between Cap and Stark, and at some point the have a fight in an airport. That's not a civil war lol, they shouldn't have used that name. But awesome movie anyway, I really liked it, though I think Winter Soldier probably has a stronger plot and story. But I did think BvS was a much better movie.
The true test comes when you see how many times you can rewatch it. BvS, Eisenberg particularly as Lex is really annoying. The batman fight scenes are good when hes trying to save Martha. But the rest of the movie is a mess, tried watching it again the other day, just wasn't interested enough to bother. Hell, even AntMan, I was interested enough to watch 2 more times within a month of its release. BvS, Affleck ended up being the best part of the movie...shit movie
