She most certainly was matey !!! - As kids I, and my two sisters had the task of laying the table at mealtimes. After the tableclotn went on, before any place settings, cutlery or condiments, the first thing that went on the table was an empty pint milk bottle in which stood a bamboo cane. If I or my sisters misbehaved at the table, we got a rap across the knuckles from the bamboo cane.
