No respect for the dead then.

why do dead bodies require respect?
why do dead human bodies require more respect than other animals?
maybe that should be a thread.... :)

also, how could you be a vegetarian and eat meat?

I personally respect the dead, just as I do living people and also animals. I know many people think that once dead, they will not know what you say, so respect goes out of the window, but I feel otherwise.

    A thread could be good.

That also crossed my mind when I saw that post.

I am a vegetarian but i would eat meat if it was going to waste because that is just me making use out of the useless. It sounds weird but if i killed an animal by accident i would eat it and use all of its parts. Its just being efficient.

I wouldn't eat a human, just because it was going to waste. And, if anyone eats me for that reason, I'll come back and kick your arse.

Worms and crows would eat you, why not a hungry human?

i really don't understand the reasoning some people use for being vegetarian. to be healthy and lower your chances of getting cancer makes sense. however, plants are living beings, and they are raised in unnatural settings and killed for us to eat them.

the only way you could really eat without killing or harming is to consume, as you said, that which dies of natural causes, which is likely diseased, or the fruit of plants that has already fallen.

Tipsy- i respect your respect. It just doesn't make sense to me that someone's soul would still be concerned with their body, especially since it is natural for that body to be consumed by the living. of course i have other reasons to be wierded out by cannibalism.

also (seeker), as far as i can tell, nothing ever goes to waste, but i do see your reasoning and it's a nice way of looking at things.

Yes, plants are living, but you can't compare them to an animal.

    It's subjective.

I disagee some people talk to their plants, treat them as pets, and even leave the stereo on during the day because the plants respond well to soothing music.

Also, I find it ironic that you're a vegetarian and yet there are carnivorous plants (including every schoolboys favorite) the venus fly trap that wouldn't hesitate for a moment to consume human flesh :D

Well, until the Venus fly trap can shop and cook alternative meals - let's call it nature.

When something happens to our more and more fragile monetary system or somthing else it will take a few days and there will be cannibalism in all the big cities, we are very close to it already, unconfortabely close...

I was actually watching a programme last night about Armin Meiwes, and it sounded like there are a lot of people on the internet who have fantasies to either eat a human, or be eaten. Nice.

First off, this is the most disgusting subject ever. I mean seriously ewwwwww!

Anyway, there is a short story by Stephen King (I think) named "Lady Fingers" in which a man marooned on a desert is a surgeron with a broken leg and winds up eating himself down to his freakin fingers. It was fucking awful, and I just had to get in there that I even remember this.

I don't think I could do that....I couldn't even cut off my arm if it was caught up under a rock or something...they'd find me dead later, skelton intact. That is what I think, anyway. Cannabalism...now that is something else. made for some successful book and movie fodder. ewwww, I say again.

I know there are certain types of ritualistic practices in which a person's heart would be eaten or some such; but that is something else, I think. I wouldn't be a part of that, either. Anyway, I've got to get something else on my mind. :D)

Yeah, you always see stories where someone has cut their arm or leg off to get away, and I always think about how I would react in that situation. I couldn't see myself being able to, but then who knows? When it comes to life or death, you do strange things you never thought you would.

I coulda sworn it was Lady Fingers...but remember how his leg was broken and basically useless - and he was hungry - and had a big bag of smack, so as to dull the pain. (he was a mule, wasn't he?)
