Me too but I take it to a component level at times, however if I'm going off the shelf then,

Once my boss wanted me to retrofit a solid state ramping hydraulic gate valve controller onto an old 4-slide machine but the unit he handed me put out 0.5A less than the solenoids required to engage so I built a new unit that could handle 0.5A more than required from my bin of salvaged transistors and misc electronics "waste",,, worked like a charm and the fuckers still wouldn't give me a raise

 

Definitely looking like a money saver
Enough 5000k leds (Samsung lm301h) for 4 2'x2' boards for less than the cost of 1 "popular model" fully assembled unit and finding power supplies capable of 600W (6, 2x2 boards) for even less.



I will finally say with confidence it would be worth a diy approach with whats on the shelf today

Edit pt2: One thing I've noticed in my readings is how it seems the same light can do well for some strains while not performing as well for others meaning if i were to design it so as to be able to vary the intensity of the individual led spectral banks i could conceivably fine tune the same light for a wider variety of strains?

Here in Oregon I've seen as high as 40% for bud and 90% for concentrates. What can I say, Oregon is a great place to grow weed, lots of gentle rain. If they try to regulate the potency a lot of great weed would go to waste!

 

I know right? Now we have 3 useless devices sitting around.

You can get seeds for free if you go for low quality weed.

 

Not sure if I should up my dosage, or what... The dreams are starting to creep in.

It's much better when the THC keeps that from happening.

 

I'm about to head out on another road trip, this time I'm driving along the Washington coast. It will only be about half as long as my last trip. I'm bringing some bud, a vape pen and some cookies I baked. And I'll bring back some Washington weed. I'll try to stay in touch here and there. Otherwise see you all in a couple weeks!

I had a horrible dream last night, i had put my plants outside only to first find them badly damaged and then totally gone.

I think it's their way of telling me to water them

 

When I don't smoke and go sleep. I have vivid messed up dreams. When I do smoke and go to sleep. My dreams are peaceful.

 

It did prompt a "spa day", pulled the top layer of sand & washed it out, worked in a little bat guano, bone meal, wood ash and a dash of epsom salts, replaced the sand and ran about 2.5 gallons of pH corrected rainwater but I was so tired I passed out and have to go check in on them after some coffee.
