To sell yes. But in some states where recreational use is legal it is also legal to grow your own with limits on the number of plants you can tend to.

Spain has the right attitude, Uruguay's is even better. In Spain it's about private clubs that grow and dispense. Same in Uruguay. But in Uruguay there are public dispensaries too, but you must register with the govt to purchase there.

In most recreational states in the US you do not have to register. Some require you present a Gov't issued ID which they scan (Washington for one). Others just require showing the ID. The kicker is purchase is on a cash only basis. Dispensaries have been getting around that by the ATM method but that is likely coming to an end with changes to federal banking law.

Yes it seems every time you find a strain you really like it gets cross-bred with another strain or two and then you can't get the original anymore. They just can't leave well enough alone.

This happens all the time... breeders and seed producers do find it hard to reproduce the same quality genetics over generations. Cannabis is prone to many variations naturally, which is one of the reasons why it is such an interesting plant to work with.

I'm unable to keep up with all the off the wall names given for a particular strain. All I know and can remember is either Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid. If you go to Leafly they list a boatload (6200+) of strains. Some called Wedding Cake, Gelato, or Kush. They list almost 900 Indica strains. Boggles the mind.
