I saw this women on The Colbert Report. She is a KFC employee who is the head of the movement for $15 an hour minimum wage. This thing is not going away. People laughed at it at first but I think we will see a change. Maybe not 15 an hour but something is coming. I do have to agree these companies will still make billions and even if they did raise their price which is the conservative argument I would pay more to know the person has a decent wage.

 

Hopefully they make some progress. I'm sure they don't actually expect to get it up that high, but it will hopefully force the companies to raise it higher than if they had asked for less.

It's ridiculous that these companies put profits before the welfare of the people who make those profits for them.

 

Walmart is the biggest hirer of minimum wage employees in north America...to raise to 15 an hour they would need to raise their prices 1.1% 1 time to cover it forever....why would they not?

 

They're the biggest employer in the world and could improve millions of lives with a decision like that, but they won't do it unless they're forced to.

walmart employees rarely get a forty hour work week, I hear they keep down the hours to avoid vacation pay and medical insurance and other benefits full time employees would receive.
