Take it to autozone. They should be able to tell you what codes your engine is sending that are causing the check engine light for free. Although a good mechanic should have done that too.

go back to the garage before the light resets..they need that info and if the problem is intermittent the code will reset after 50 starts

 

well it stopped again two weeks after it was fixed, so I took it back and they hooked it up to the computer thing and they said everything was working fine. and it was. the light just came on this evening.

 

CELs throw for a lot of reasons on older cars.
Mine used to throw because of cylinder misfires and would turn off after I restarted the car.
There are other reasons why it might go on and go off intermittently - best bet is to catch it at a time where you can go to a place (like Autozone) and get it read, find out what's wrong and fix it.

Could easily be solenoids, bad plugs/wires, misfires (common on old 4bangers), etc etc...point is, they are usually easy fixes that can develop into major damage.

Speaking of...my cat has a huge ass lump on his neck that I just noticed today, but I know that he's had based on looks. Only recently have I realized that he has an actual cyst.

He's not too sensitive about it, I haven't noticed any bite marks around it (he's an outdoor kitty); but he doesn't really like too much attention to it. Normally he is super affectionate and I can pet him wherever, but his neck-tumor-thing is not a cool place. I'm worried, don't know what it is, and can't really afford a vet bill for him --- he's not neutered and has no shots and seeing as that I can't afford some chemo-kitty-therapy, I can't afford all that BS either... who's the resident veterinarian?

write down anything you want to ask about/ tell them. i go a little stupid when i go to the doctor. i always bring a list. if i dont i will remember "that other thing" as soon as i walk out the door.
