The NDP is pulling in some higher numbers on the most recent poll. Hopefully that doesn't take seats away from the Liberals though. We could be screwed if it does.

Which party would be best for you in the coming election? Liberal party?

    lol... best?

See, you hit upon the crux of our problem... lol

In terms of the cons not winning... then a liberal... in fact, (I posted this elsewhere, but like saying it...lol) a liberal majority would be the perfect thing, as it would cause harpers head to explode in a flash of sparks, springs and gears...

In terms of policy, for me... the Green Party all the way... The NDP would be my second choice... then the liberals... with the cons all locked up in those new jails they want to build...

In terms of leadership, vision and someone who will move Canada forward into the future, working to truly better the country and get everyone working together...

    We have none...

Ideally the Green party would be best, but they don't have a real track record and are very small at this point, they have a long way to go to prove that they could actually run the country (in my opinion)

    http://greenparty.ca/

More realistically speaking, I'd like to see the NDP have a shot. Again, they've never run the country, though they've backed a few Liberal minority governments. I like a lot of their ideals. What hurts their campaign however is that a lot of people fnd them to be too similar to the Liberals and therefore vote Liberal (the party with a real track record of running the country).

As Jack Layton said (the leader of the NDP), the Liberal party is just a left of right-wing party. They've (the Liberals) backed the Conservative minority on quite a few things within the past 5 or so years.

A recent study claimed that most Canadians find Layton to be the most likeable leader and many said they would vote for him, if only he was a Liberal leader. Most just don't have confidence in his party I suppose.

    http://www.ndp.ca/#

Unfortunately I'm forced to vote Liberal, for two reasons really. One, I want to give as much support as possible (my one single vote) to the party that has the best chance of beating the Conservatives. And two, because of my location, voting for anything other than the Liberals or the Conservatives would be simply throwing my vote away. There's no chance in hell of the NDP or the Green party winning my riding. And there's no chance in hell I'll ever vote for the Conservative Regime.

Spoiling your ballot in a federal election is illegal.

This one is specificaly for the women of Canada... (and those who love them of course).

There has been a lot of talk about how harper feels about women...

He slanders them to get rid of them, fires them when they do their job and generally looks down on them.

Read the following article and think about this quote from mr harper on whether or not women have the same rights as men.

Women of Canada... do you really want to live as second class citizens under harper's regime?

Do we want a debate on constitional matters? When it concerns the equality of people... ABSOLUTELY.

No. But it makes a protest vote irrelevant. Which negates any protest.

I'll have to look it up but I'm sure the proper way to do it is: When you're handed your ballot, you say "I reject this" (or something or other) and then immediately return it BLANK.

Though I suppose that if you don't know enough about elections to know that spoiling a ballot is an impotent protest at the very least and illegal at the worst, then perhaps it's best that that person's vote goes lost.

    Scathing? Perhaps.
I think I'm getting my mid-election bitterness. Where it's not just the media and the candidates that irk me, it's the people I talk to who just have no clue how their government functions.

    Ugh. I hate being jaded.

Protest votes that consist of not voting, are worse then useless...

All this requires is a little bit of logic.

Will the right wingers stay home or otherwise not use their vote?

We know from the last elections that they will come out in full force and vote for harper and his cons.

It is only because of the apathy that is fostered by this idea that voting doesn't mean anything, that they won.

Most of the 'left' stayed home... or destroyed their ballot, or voided it... Those who did get out to vote, didn't concern themselves with the overall picture of what the country would look like under harper and in a lot of cases, handed their riding to the cons...

You don't combat this stuff by staying home or otherwise not voting.

You combat it by getting out on any one of the FOUR days that you can vote, and make your voice heard.

    Early voting... 3 days;

    Strategic Voting... know who to vote for to get rid of the cons;

    GET OUT AND VOTE!

    Crush harper and his cons.

Yes, that's the "proper" way to go about wasting democracy.

You forgot juvenile, a complete waste of time for all those involved, and a blatant disregard for our democracy that others in the world kill and die just to have a system that somewhat resembles it.

Harper seems to be feeling the same lately. He's so tired of talking to Canadians that he's begun to throw them out of his meetings...

I would love to vote Green. However, the Greens don't have a snowball's hope in hell of getting elected in my riding. The party with the best chance of knocking off our Conservative incumbent is the NDP, so that's who I will be voting for. We've got to get rid of Harper and his crew.

I would never consider not voting. There's always someone to vote for or someone to vote against. Either way is a valid way of expressing an opinion. I've lost track of how many elections I have voted in, but I have only missed one, and that was when my employer (illegally) didn't allow me time to get to the polls.
