Some people do, yeah. But I hope you're not denying the existence of immigration as an economic necessity. Further, the immigrants who come here by choice (such as myself) tend to adapt better, not the least for the reason that they are better off economically. It's really a no-brainer.
yeah, not buying it. there wouldn't be so many people joyfully taking off for an adventure in parts unknown if it wasn't a part of the human animal to do so. a new life, a place away from your history, your mistakes, a starting over. so many people don't really have loved ones. i mean, just because they come from some obscure, broke background doesn't mean they have the Hallmark Poverty Stricken But Loving Family. that's romantic bs.
most of people moving, even within the usa, is from economic necessity. that doesn't mean they're pining for home all the time.
I doubt all 30,000 Somalian refugees in this town are loving it and enjoying this grand adventure on the complete opposite side of the world in the snow
We are in agreement then. But economic necessity plays a role in how easily one adapts to a new culture. Individuals are complex entities with competing motivations. Even immigrants are capable of love-hate relationships to their own countries and their new homes.
I read your posts and found them to be insightful, empathetic and open-minded without all the romanticization. Persevere.
did i mention you're incredibly smart AND hot? lol thanks. i try. i'm still an asshole, but at least it's not intentional.
of course not. that's refugees, entirely different from migrant workers. one is tragedy, one is tragically hopeful. just THINK how cool our world is goin to be, when can party on down with beautiful people and just accept and make their lives as kick ass as possible? i love to host a good party. i want a bed & breakfast. it's my dream job.
I do think we should make it harder on refugees by having them remove their traditional dress, that would make the party more fun for us, plus I could see if they were hot or not
absolutely. and how many times do you hear from someone "i fucking hate this place, i have to get out of here!" so many times. and what happens? you visit. home really is where you make it. i've lived with my home on my back my whole life. i don't understand, really, people who live in one place their whole lives. but i've never lacked for home. my home just never had a place name attached to it.
oh thank GOD. i was so totally about to have a good pms sob-fest. "HE DOESN'T LOVE ME ANYMORE!! HE THINKS I'M A MOUTH BREATHING TROGLODYTE!!!!"
