I've been wondering if it is actually possible for something to travel faster than the speed of light. I think it was Einstein who suggested the concept of placing a high powered laser pointing vertically from the edge of a rotating platter (like a record deck). This would then be aimed at the moon, so that in one rotation of the platter, the laser would travel once around the circumference of the moon. If the platter was then sped up, the difference in circumferences would mean that the laser point on the moon would be travelling in excess of the speed of light before the platter reached the critical value ( a value of 99% the speed of light is theoretically achievable). What would happen to the laser point on the moon? Is it possible to make light travel faster than the speed of light?!?

we don't even know if the speed of light is indeed a constant (einstien was wrong :D ) ..... theories are looking more and more like revealing that light has changed it's form from the big bang :)

so......if something can travel faster than the speed of light....we now need to discover what the optimum speed of light is (if, indeed, there is an optimum speed)

    :)
