Crime lies in the mind of the beholder. We had crimes when we didn't have guns, and we will have crimes when guns are gone. But the gun control will certainly reduce the crime rate for sometime because many people who have a hammer think that every problem is a nail. Take those hammers away. It will never solve the entire problem, but it will certainly help

Now who said anything about taking anything away.i don't want your toys.Don't be so paranoid.Thats the whole problem.The paranoia feeds the hysteria that supports the manufacturers that play both sides.Would a gun have stopped 9/11?Possibly,but a 747 full of armed passengers could have serious consequinces in it self.No doubt the hijackers would have much been better armed then they were.The better way to have avoided 9/11 would have had stricter security in the get go.Not let that knife get by.Total big brother.It's your choice if you get on that plane or not.i guess that could be called plane control though.It's not the plane,it's the hijacker.Really in conclusion.we should drop all security measures at the airport cause planes don't have souls people do.

 

When I say assault weapon, I'm referring to ANY gun/rifle/machine gun/shot gun/grenade machine gun et al capable of being fired at full auto. Not some weapon some politician decided was scary looking. The California law was lame, but the politicians hearts were in the right place. IMO

 

This is really dumb number 1 the plane would had never been full people with guns but you bet your ass if maybe just 1 or 3 or 6 passanger aboard with a conceal weapon license would had stop them. i dont think the terrorist would had boarded the plane with giant Bazoka to make up for theyr limited size. Had both pilot and flight engineer had a gun also both tower would been there . so dont even go there.

 

or they could simply lock the cabin doors,but an old style shootout would be a lot more fun.Now are you talkingprivate citizens or you want to put 3-4 of them washington cops aboard.What if those 3-4 were hijackers with a clean record and a gun liscense.Not that they would ever pull anything underhanded like that.

Recent shootings of two children decried
Citizens are urged to report all crimes

Half-a-dozen people gathered at 39th Street and River Park Drive yesterday, expressing outrage that two children have been shot by stray bullets in the past week.

Neither child was killed, but "two's too many," said the Rev. Clay Calloway, president of Interdenominational Ministerial Coalition, which organized the vigil.



The event took place across the street from where 12-year-old Stacia Young was shot Tuesday night while returning from a corner store.

Stacia was in fair condition yesterday in the intensive care unit of Kosair Children's Hospital. Her mother, Julie Cotton, said Wednesday that none of Stacia's vital organs were damaged but that she had part of her intestines and her appendix removed during surgery.

On April 5, 3-year old Isaiah Gregory was shot in the buttocks near a playground in the Sheppard Square housing complex. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Calloway said the community needs to unite to signal its outrage against such senseless violence.

"Bullets don't have eyes," he said, "and it could have been far worse than it was."

Calloway also urged citizens to report all crimes to the police in an effort to keep the violence from escalating. He reminded people that, by doing so, they are not "snitching" but assisting.

In a separate interview yesterday, Donnie Morris, who offers crime-prevention programs for children, reminded people they can report crime tips through certain churches, by way of the Church Community/Criminal Activity Reporting Effort, or CARE, rather than the 574-LMPD tip line.

Morris has said he came up with the idea because some residents worry about retaliation, even though the Louisville Metro Police line is anonymous. Police Chief Robert White said he was pleased with the idea when it made its debut earlier this year.

Morris said he now works with about 15 local churches, including Pleasant View, St. Stephen Baptist Church, Forest Baptist Church, West Chestnut Street Baptist Church and Peace Presbyterian Church. People can call the churches to report the information, which will then be forwarded to the police.

The effort is needed, Morris said, "Because this madness is going to continue until residents get involved."

 

gun control laws do not reduce the numbers of illegally owned guns. It is those illegal guns that are involved in most crimes against other people, not licensed guns that the laws would do away with. How is that going to lower the crime rate? It doesn't make sense! Do you know how easy it is to buy a gun? You don't really have to fill out all those papers and stuff. Making more laws has no impact on criminal behavior. Criminals aren't concerned with the law.

 

Get rid of those SUV with a bimbo on the cellular phone they kill more people than a true selective fire assault weapons. prob Gate 68 drives ones plus post stuff here on his laptop while driving and prob have kill dozens with out him even knowing.
