Can anyone give me one piece of SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN evidence that dread wax fails?

I lol at what people call 'scientific proof' in this thread xD
No one has given scientific proof..... They have given highly biased personal experiences and hear say

End of the day everyone has different hair, and theres hundreds of ways to make dreads (with and without wax)... Wax might not work in your hair, or the way you used it but there are a lot of positive experiences for Wax out there..... These companies would not exist if they 'tricked' people into ruining there dreads with these products

End of the day though unless someone actually DOES a scientific experiment all we have is biased personal experiences and hear say..... Make sure you read them and come up with your own decision on wax as that is all you can do unless you want to do an actual experiment

Until then.... This thread is pointless xD Your arguments will never end until the day someone creates true scientific evidence for wax and dread creation

actually, I wrote the last comment when I was getting off of work, so I missed your comment saying that you weren't going to use it now... Yeah, aloe is a good alternative and washes out fine. I've never really found my dreads "unpresentable" to be honest, so I don't see the reason to worry so much about that. I think the happiness of knowing that you're working towards them outweighs any other feelings that you might temporarily have about them.

first off, to yelgath i want to clarify, in that long ass rant i posted, while i admit that i came off sarcastic (thats just my personality) i in no way meant it to flame or to be a wax nazi, i understand that some people like wax, but i waxed my last set a bit and it was gross, so everything i said, in MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE is scientific proof. everything i said HAPPENS.

good decision in not using wax, and aloe is a very good alternative!!! just rinse it out after a few days or it will get gross. you can re apply it as needed though, just make sure you wash

first off, for real, go to a festival. it will happen like that. first off parinoia, if i see waxy dreads at a festie i think dreadie feddie. its a good way to "fit in" with an on the spot dread job. plus they look silly.

second, on that note, your comment about "looking cool as opposed to them thinking i'm cool" read my comments in why i have dreads. it has nothing to do with trying to be cool.

third, it doesnt matter how much wax you use, you WILL look silly, your hair will not really be dreadlocks, just waxy clumps of hair. and it DOES get all over your pillowcases, no matter how much or how little you use. maybe not if you sleep in a hat, but then it just gets all over your hat.

no comment on the doucher thing.... if you dont know then you dont know

does johnny clean like his dreads? who fucking cares.... he likes the paycheck he recieves by having dreads and thats what it comes down to. the fact is his hair looks like shit. if you want to look like shit, then be like johnny clean and use wax. nobodys stopping you.

thanks for calling me superficial though, i really couldnt give a shit what whatever your name is thinks of me. call it high self esteem or call it conceited, but i'm the shit, you dont like me , whatever.

as far as you saying i'm insulting anybody, i'm not. he asked about wax, i told him about wax. the only person i insulted is johnny clean and well, if you look at his hair i cant see anything good about it. its just shitty waxy sticks of hair that stick to his face (they ACTUALLY stick to his face at one point in one of his videos and then stay in the shape of his face after he unsticks it) take or leave my advice dude, but if you wax, i look down on you for having silly hair. its just how it is.

op, again i am really happy for you that you posted this thread and decided not to wax before you made a mistake. even if it worked for you its not worth the long term damage. aloe will work. palm roll a bit for loose frizz and rub your roots for a de-frizz along your scalp.

my advice for your tips being tidy is to crochet them. i wouldnt reccomend doing this for a few months. just let them be whispy for the first few months because the locks wont be tight and mature enough to hold the tips blunted at first. after a little while and your hair is doing its own thing either search the forum for how to do this or ask again. you can also crochet back in whatever hair falls out of the dreads some people say this is damaging, but nowhere near as bad as wax is. good luck with your dreads and keep us posted how they turn out.

Good job taking a part of something I said and trying to make it look like something else.

OP, I'm not one who has a problem with wax. Logic tells me that every person's hair is different and requires certain types of maintenance (or not).

My dreads are almost 16 months along, going very well, and I used beeswax for the first 3 months. I wasn't looking for "perfect" dreads - far from it; I simply have extremely terribly DRY hair - always have. I used some wax to condition my hair a bit, because it dreaded easily but got so dry that it felt scratchy and hard.

At about 3 months, my hair did start to get a wax build-up. It felt a little bit tacky and smelled...not bad...but, it smelled "hairy" enough so that I felt self-conscious when I was at work and near people.

I stopped using the wax, and a good scrub using Dr. Bronner's then an acv rinse got rid of the old wax. I didn't use any wax again for a year. When winter came, some of my locks have become VERY dry, so I use either a tiny (tiny!) bit of wax, or a bit of condition, and work it into those super-dry dreads.

No big deal. If you have normal-to-oily hair, I am thinking that wax will end up causing you more problems than not. if, however, your hair is exceedingly dry, a small, small amount of wax could be helpful.

    Good luck.

Thats the closest there is to evidence, but we are still generalising the results to work for dreads..... And that experiment also did not cover anything to do with Wax, so it really isn't sufficient...

Like I said, until a REAL dread experiment is done, all you can do is look at what peoples personal experiences have been and form your own opinion, as at the moment that is all we have..

Carry on arguing if you like, but end of the day an argument that is opinion vs. opinion is just the immovable object meets the unstoppable force.... it'll never end
