LSD is completely out of the persons body within a couple days. Scientific studies of long term users, have not shown that it causes any kind of physical brain damage. Long term psychological effects are just that psychological, and not physically caused by the LSD. A persons psychology is their own responsibility.

To sum it up isn't your first acid experience a life changing one. so can't you technically be considered crazy based on any views you might have after tripping.

HPPD is permanent. Residual effects can be lifelong. HPPD is a pysiological warping of neuronal pathways directly affecting your perception of impulses sent from your eyes *images"
    to your brain.

when i first took acid a few years back i took quite a bit... i never did it ever since i had visuals for a while, maybe a few weeks, but that wasnt troublesome, i actually enjoyed to hallucinate quite a bit, but then came the scary shit... i started to hear voices, i thought they were from my afterlife.... but i had lenghty conversations and heard many phrases repeated over and over... the voices went away all on their own, without any meds, in a few months, and they did not bother me as much as to not being able to cary on a normal life, so yeah i hid it pretty well... so i have two points to make, you will always come down, no matter how fucked up you were, but, lsd is not as safe, i would never do it again.

I will compare LSD to bungee jump.
Not everybody will enjoy it, some will be terrified to try it, some will try it, but never do it again because they were scared, some of them will try it again although they are scared, some will be delighted with it and they will look for a higher jump. Very small percentage will actually get killed because the rope broke, and you can have thousands of jumps, but matematically, you can be the next one who can die because of the rope. Jump without safety precausions, and your chances of not surviving just got bigger.
What I am trying to say? I am trying to say that everything we do in our life, on some way it can be dangerous, but the chances of that danger vary from one thing to another. We just need to be aware of that and to decide are we ready to take this risk or not. To me personaly, bigger risk is to drive on a motorbike than taking acid, but to some biker that would sound crazy. Everything that it is new to you, try it carefully a bit by bit. I would never suggest somebody who never jumped bungee to jump at Victoria Falls (310m) first time, I would tell him to find first 20, 30m jump to see how it goes. Same with acid, take one hit and see how it goes, don't take the dose that you are not 100% sure that you can handle. Know your shit and there shoudn't be a problem. Problem arises when people are careless.

i would say jump right in as there is nothing to be afraid of (unless you are afraid)

even if you have many wonderful trips with no negative effect there will be people (if you are honest about who you are) who think you are crazy, not only for using lsd but because an enlightened point of view is actually thought of as crazy for many people.

if you trip be prepared to become a person unlike the average person. dont use lsd to fit in when that is the opposite of what will happen.

people are not crazy they are unique

if they become a threat then you can start to protect yourself

if they are just crazy and no threat ~ whats your problem with that???

HPPD is absolutley the most ignorant approach to understanding psychedelic drugs use I have seen to date. Id rather watch government propaganda regarding mutated babies than hear about this absolute waste of a diagnosis. It's right up there with giving ritilan to kids who dont conform immediatley to the curriculam of a classroom setting.
First of all, several of the visual 'disturbances' attributed to this diagnosis have been reported personall to me by people who haven't even smoked a joint in their life, let alone drop acid.
The brain is barely operating to it's fullest capacity at this present point in human evolution and our eyes barely pick up on what is going on around us. Different colours, radio waves, energy transfer during physical organic contact, vibration, etc.
What if the people earlier in our evolution who couldn't see such a wide spectrum of colour considered seeing other hues and frequencies of light as insanity or mental damage? The Bible for example has nearly a thousand mentions of the Sky, and yet only 3 colours are mentioned throughout the entire book, and none of those 3 are the colour Blue.
Neural pathways being 'derailed' as this diagnosis seems to intend is severly misunderstood, understudied, unproven, and highly ignorant if you ask me. The neural pathways affected by repetitive reception and interpretation of thought process generated by external stimuli and transformed into tracks to follow define personality as well as perception, however this energy is found in many different results but in only one essential source, vibration.
The visuals said to belong to HPPD involved trails, aura's, melting and vibrating objects of sense perception.
Being that every object of matter is composed of vibration, the solidity and time lapse observation we have of them presently is in no way how this universe actually works. Some visuals such as the melting I can see as being a disturbance but I wouldnt be so quick to say that this is automatically caused by a bother to receptors in the brain. There is always more than 'meets the eye' and in this case, much more.
The world is alive, it is dancing, the universe breathes and Nature has a purpose. Our limited ability to open our hearts and observe life for what it really is, is rooted deep in fear, just as is this diagnosis of HPPD.
Insanity is severley full of fear, and mental breakdowns are not uncommon for LSD users. However just because you drop acid a couple of times and have blurry vision when you read for sometime is not detrimental and is no reason to have fear of the chemical.
I've dosed hundreds of times in my 23 years in this body and trust me, whatever HPPD is trying to wrap itself around is not permanent. It goes away if you can learn how to take a break and perhaps do a little excersize.

Can acid make you go crazy for the rest of your life?

    My answer:
Craziness tends to occur after a period whereby we are locked in a 'psychotic' thought pattern. Often we can revert back to our original thought pattern, or a new thought pattern that is more or less stable. But sometimes we may not return from such a psychotic break. Drugs are known to instigate psychotic breaks. Acid will not make you go crazy, but when LSD is in your brain, there are thoughts that come out that would not have come out had you not taken LSD. maybe not the thoughts themselves, but the way in which they are related, and what they impress on you. Thus taking acid can lead to your mind being in a state that you may not revert back from.

Many drugs give this risk, eg. psychedelics, cannabinoids, dissasociatives, amphetamines. Its all the same shit - these drugs can give you intense experiences. intense experiences are more likely to impress something on your mind that sticks. When things are more likely to do this, they could also be said to be more likely to make oyu go crazy. psychological disorders can be caused by any traumas, be they caused by drug induced states of emotion, by social perceptions, physical harm, distressing information, etc.

Taking drugs is risky. you should never think otherwise. But we are all gamblers, as we walk out the door each day, or we stay indoor each day. Either way, we risk death, among other things, and it is up to us to balance our risks. we must balance what we have in our lives, with our possibility of living at all. we can protect ourselves completely, but be then unable to do anything in the outside world.

I take the risk of ending the life that I know and cherish, by taking drugs. But that is because I want my life to include that which can acheived through drugs.

well, if theyre crazy, then there is the threat that they may become a threat. the fact that they are unique to the point that they do not seem to make sense to you (crazy), is reason to believe that crazy people could become threats to other people without warning, for we would only have warning if they proceeded to act accordingly to how we comprehend.

my point is that sometimes we think people are crazy when in fact they are just different

just because you do not understand someones point of view does not make them a threat

maybe you are the threat for not being able to accept others perspectives

could someone become a crazy threat? - sure, but i think that has more to do with life choices and personal experience than it does lsd

I think it's safer to say that either we are all insane, or all sane, in our own ways. After all what is insanity? The ability to not function like the majority?

doctors trying to label something they do not understand and in doing so creating a problem in place of where a lesson should be learned

if you experience unwanted visual effects after lsd use, slow down or discontinue use until the negative effect subsides... it is just that simple

by that definition i am most definitely insane

and not afraid to admit that it is actually the other way around

we are of the few sane in a world full of insane

or i would rather look at it this way ~ we are all in different places on different paths to the same place ~ it is impossible for us all to have the same perspective

    Yada yada yada

Everything that being said is subjective, the old; it hasn’t happened to me so it doesn’t happen. Well, I can pretty much guarantee that no one posting on this thread has lost it on LSD, because if you’ve lost it you’re not going to be posting anywhere. So we're not getting their opinions on the subject.

As to whether they are crazy or happy with their condition I don’t know. The ones I’ve met and known don’t talk or interact with others well so finding these things out is difficult.

Personally, I did LSD many times in the 60’s and 70’s but not since. I’ve never had a bad trip but have known those who have and known those who didn’t come back. I would not give up my experiences with LSD but then I always came back, it’s too bad we can’t ask those who didn’t come back how they feel about it.

Life is, as has been mention before, full of choices some more dangerous than others. Bungee Jumping and Sky Diving are more dangerous than walking or running. Taking LSD is more dangerous than not taking it, just as Sky Diving is more dangerous than not Sky Diving. For some the benefits out weight the dangers and for others they don’t. It’s your choice. But don’t let people tell you its all good because there can be a darker side.

What it comes down to is; you pays your money and you takes your chances.

Why is it whenever they talk about people freaking out they always say that the guy thought he was an orange or orange juice...
I know vitamin c helps the visuals but there seems to be a lot of people who supposedly went crazy who think they are oranges.. hahahaha:D

My dad told me a similar story about a friend like that... when we were younger he gave me "the big drug speech" as was basically like" look, acid is fun, once I had a bad trip, it sucked. Be Careful."

    I said ok.
