Absolutely, very important. Yes sounds sexist, bigtime.

This was, in many ways, a very foreign culture from ours; and this is a Gospel from a particular sect, many of which probably existed, approximately 300 years after the Crucifixion.

In my life I have met a lot of really accomplished and amazing people from many walks of life. Some of these people have great levels of accomplishment, and what I have always seen is when you get close, even to those who are held up as divine, and, clearly, to my awareness, many of these people where very powerful; is that these people are just "regular humans" in the sense that they have real issues and failings. And I have always found that the strongest and the wisest of these where humble and where honest with themselves about this. So in, hypothetically, meeting Jesus in the 'flesh' I sense that this is what we would encounter; although I sense that we would also see that this was no ordinary human, far from it.

We can idealize, or narrow the available information about, part of what Jesus really was so that we are 'looking' at what we know to probably be true; in other words there are particular things that we can know with high confidence about him. He existed, he was executed, he had a ministry, he lived in and about Israel, he was well known for his 'works,' etc.

i agree. oftentimes i feel such an enormous respect for people who i initially percieve to be much wiser than me, and near-perfect. later, when i recognize that i know more than them about certain subjects, or recognize failings in them, there is a great struggle in coming to terms with the fact that humans are.. human! i used to experience great disappointment in realizing that people who i thought could 'save' me, couldn't even save themselves. or, should i say, this is how it used to be, when i was a little younger, and now i am learning to watch people fail and still love them, and actually respect people, and not just strangers. if you know what i mean. i once read, 'it's easy to love strangers, and very difficult to love people you know'.
i don't know if this really is in relevance to what you're saying, but it's what came to mind. i believe jesus was fully human, and experienced human failings and human ignorance.

Exactly what I am saying. And adding that honesty about that is a sign of someone who has some of the most important qualities, spiritual and otherwise.

Quit wanking and go to the source, campbell34

  10. that's funny......

the way burden of proof works out is funny too.......

I want to know how many christians have come into random thoughts (outside the few lunatic fringe folk) love and sex and just almost any number of other forums that are not religion related and started preaching.....

then how many athiests come into the christian forum and start preaching.....

does that mean that the people that can't prove their theory either are lunatic fringigest's like our dear friend anti-porn?

    just a thought......

Saving people. Feeding the masses. Creating good teachers. Sure.

Since God exists, and YOU cannot prove he doesn't, these are acts commited by God. Much like how you are TRYING to start shit about God in place of people. Nice try. I'm greatly amused by your posed. Keep them coming. They're FAR more interesting than those of other nonbelievers.

How would you KNOW that God doesn't exist?

Again, you go with the old "if I can't see it, it must not exist" logic

The only people that use that logic are christians when they are trying to feed you a line about whan the unbeliever thinks. It is christian propaganda. Rheortic they use to preach to the choir, but isn't convincing to anyone who isn't already in agreement with christians in the first place.

Then what, the whole "If God exists, may he strike me right now" logic?

    Psalm 2 (The Message)
1Why the big noise, nations? Why the mean plots, peoples?

    2Earth-leaders push for position,

Demagogues and delegates meet for summit talks,

    The God--deniers, the Messiah-defiers:

    3"Let's get free of God!

    Cast loose from Messiah!"

    4Heaven-throned God breaks out laughing.

    (KJV below)

    Psalm 2

1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.

That is a joke, or taunt if you will...No one has ever claimed it was logic.

Erise thinks he's being smart, but that's where the problem really begins......when he thinks!
Like suggesting that because it cannot be seen, it is proven to exist. Brilliant Erise, absolutely brilliant!
    Again.
    You might try it sometime.
    Sooner rather than later, perhaps.
